“Travelodge Chester Central”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

The accommodation was adequate and was generally as expected of a Travelodge. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the room was air conditioned (quite something for a budget hotel at this price) and that it was extremely quiet and efficient. Top marks for that, Travelodge. Nil points are to be awarded, however, for the evident lack of vacuuming of the carpet and, by definition, failure to inspect the room prior to letting. I have to say that the carpet was quite dirty.
I am not a big fan of Travelodge's breakfast box and I could not locate a suitable café nearby, which is a minus point, as is the fact that I was woken a couple of times during the night by live music from one of the adjacent bars.

That is, the business model of paring everything down to the essentials, which, in this case, meant not servicing rooms properly besides the no breakfast. One cup was washed out but a used one left and the bed wasn't made, just covers pulled loosely up. The main lack (which they could put right with only a tiny investment) is having a drawer or two to put things instead of having to keep everything eg underwear you don't want on public display in the suitcase.
I really missed radio and though the tv had about 10 channels none were functioning radio.

Room Tip: If you're sensitive to noise avoid one overlooking the road or the very busy pub.

Modern, clean and tastefully decorated room, Very pleasant and helpful staff. The hotel and room exceeded my expectations and I'd stay at a Travelodge again. The hotel was closely located to the city centre but the room was very quiet. Recommended

Stayed an number of times at this site, always book In advance & feel it's terrific value for an hotel in its location.
The receptionist was most helpful without being fussy & the cleaning staff were also attentive.
Ideal location for visiting Chester city centre.

The hotel is a five minute walk from the glorious old city of Chester. You have a local tesco just around the corner, some nice pubs and restaurants.

The problem is the room, it's small and extremely basic. The TV had 4 grainy channels. Not cheap either at £65/ night. A bed, a desk, a 14" TV, a tepid shower, a dark dingy room. Could do better!

The location of this Travelodge is excellent, check in was efficient and the staff we met were friendly. The big let down was the cleanliness.

The carpet floor in the room had not been vacuumed in a while and we felt we had to leave our socks on at all times. We stayed for two nights and the room was not cleaned during our stay. The bathroom could have used a good scrub, there were specs of mould on the tiles. The room was basic as expected but it would have been sufficient if it was clean.

Being located opposite Cruise nightclub this Travellodge could work as somewhere to stay after a night out. For a weekend getway we would not recommend it.

Good location 5 mins from Chester shopping. Room has air conditioning, which was great and much needed in a very hot July. Standard set up for travelodge, bed comfy, room quiet, good nights sleep. Reasonable price left us with more to spend in some fab Chester eateries.
