We stayed at the Bowman Lodge for three nights and it is a wonderful B&B. We had two rooms and both rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast is also very good. The host (Mike) was very friendly. I recommend this B&B to anyone who is planning on visiting beautiful and historic Chester.

Stayed one night b and b for a girly shopping weekend. Could do with a bit of a spruce up but then again you only sleep there and it was excellent value 34 per person and the breakfast was ideal toast and full english. Excellent pub across road and chinese down road about 2 min walk would definately recommend. the bus was 2.30 return into chester and would definately recommend as much easier than driving and parking. Would probably use again for value for money.

We were given the "family room" with three beds making a large room overcrowded. The very small en-suite came with an old and cracked hand basin & no shaving lamp and very noisy plumbing which echoed though from other rooms. Wall covering was overdue for replacement or re-fixing! Breakfast was a limited cereal (no muesli or granola type mixes) or fruit fresh or dried. The fry up seemed to be preferred by most travelers and was O.K. if you like the less healthy option. The value was not good even though it was am excellent location for sightseeing Chester.

Chester races was the venue and Bowman Lodge was the chosen accomadation and very glad that we picked it. The room was tidy and comfortable. The breakfast was superb and Mike and Jayne were the perfect hosts. I know where my first choice will be when we visit Chester again. 10 out of 10.

I stayed here with 9 friends and we all thought it a good place to stay. There are good restaurants within walking distance and it is about 20mins walk to the centre of town. The hosts were very kind and helpful and breakfasts very good. It is not luxurious but for that you have to pay much more and we all, from Germany, enjoyed our stay very much.

We stayed here overnight during a weekend in Chester to celebrate an important wedding anniversary. The location, room, quietness, breakfast and attentive hosts were all perfect. Yes, the rooms may appear a little tired, but that would not be a criticism. Our only criticism were the drinks - tea and coffee. It was lovely to have drinks and a kettle provided in the room, as we thought that it would be perfect to have a drink of good old northern tea after many hours walking. In fact the coffee did not taste like coffee and the tea unlike tea. We thought it was the UHT milk that had slightly gone off. However, at breakfast, which could not be bettered - endless toast, a full English breakfast leaving us likewise - full, in a great way - but the tea was very weak and the coffee again unlike coffee. If this was remedied, it would be the perfect place to stay in every way. We would go back, but take our own sachets! Chester is fascinating and being so compact can be covered easily in the day. It is worth looking at all the blue plaques dotted around, which are really informative. There were flowers everywhere and the weather was so perfect that it made everything else seem even better. Altogether a perfect weekend.

Room Tip: We had room 7 that was spacious, comfortable & quiet, even being on the main road. A basin in th...

I paid a return visit to chester in june and once again stayed at Bowman Lodge. As before I received a very warm welcome from Mike and Jayne for whom nothing is too much too trouble and who looked after me so well. I stayed in a different room this time and like the one I stayed in before, it was immaculate. Breakfast was appetising and filling. I spent a wonderful few days in Chester and at Bowman Lodge and hope that it is not too long before I can return.
