“Great base for our hen do weekend”
Reviewed 12 June 2011

I had the pleasure of finding somewhere to house 14 excited hens over a race meeting weekend in Chester... not as easy as you might think! But finidng the Farndon made my life so much easier- great location, great service, great rooms, great food, exceptional customer service and a laid back atmosphere helped us feel at home and ready to party. The race day package was excellent value for money- including transport, champagne breakfast and 2 night accomodation. A great weekend was had by all- even the rain didn't ruin it! Would recommend for any one- a group, couples, family reunion- brilliant!

Room Tip: Ask about the Race day package- excellent.

Booked this hotel based on the previous reviews, hotel location was perfect for us, far enough into the countryside whilst being close enough for both Chester and Wrexham.

Bedroom and bathroom were large and pleasantly decorated whilst being very clean, shower was also very powerful.

On our first night we ate at the hotel, the food was excellent, reasonably priced and unhurried, the atmosphere was good and we felt very comfortable, our intention was to travel into Chester the next evening, however we enjoyed the previous evening and decided to eat here again, we had the same experience as the previous night.

Breakfast was plentiful, tasty and again unhurried, The staff, from the moment we arrived to leaving were very welcoming and attentive. All in all we would definitely recommend this hotel for a relaxing break , we will be returning hopefully later in the year.

Stayed overnight with partner and 8 month old baby.

the room was of a very very high standard. more than accomadating and something you would expect in a higher priced hotel.

the restaraunt food was brilliant. could have the same meals twice.

special mention to chef for going out of his job spec and making us feel very much at home. all the staff were more than friendly and helpful.

will defo be staying again very very soon.

i would like to disagree with last review as this hotel has everything.the cleanliness, service and great location.me and my husband had a great weekend and peter, sian, chris the chef and the lady who provided our super breakfast made our weekend better.i can only think that the previous review was from a young couple who try get away from thier parents as only turning up after ten at night and running about and keeping us awake,to my guess dont appreciate a good hotel.....my recommendation to them is go to blackpool.to anyone thinking of going to the fardon......dont hesitate!!!!

The room for the money was good, both my self and my partner stay in hotels three or four nights a week so this review is objective - ok.. fluffy robes, comfy bed, for the money good bed - however - we chose to eat, the service was ok, the wine list was good, the food was AWFUL and I mean awfful to the point when we had to complain and didn't eat!, the owner could not offer, and indeed did not offer any recompense and charged for two courses that where inedibble - warm microwaved prawns iin a salad, lamb dripping in fat, advocado so raw that it needed to be chipped at, fish (fish an chips at £12.00) that was soggy and frankly inedible - just to top it tartare sauce with said from a bottle... there where no other diners in the restaurant which says it all... I will never revisit to eat, maybe to sleep, but then why would you stay somewhere that you couldn't trust with cooking a simple meal? I stand with a bill for bed which was ok and one for food thst was the worst that I have EVER experienced - Consider carefully - eat where you sleep.

Booked into The Farndon for one night (Sunday evening). We were very pleasantly surprised with the interior, modern and chic. Room was very comfortable and warm, fully equipped but needed a mirror in the bedroom! Bathroom was fine, no bath but lovely shower. Added bonus were the towelling robes! Enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast great too. Peter was very friendly. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed just one night and couldn't fault anything. We arrived early but we were still made to feel very welcome. We had the Stretton and Allford rooms which were both very clean and very nicely decorated, bathrooms were also spotless. We spent the day in Chester and returned to the Farndon in the evening and enjoyed a really nice meal in a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this Hotel.
