The Penthouse was a wonderful place to use as our base in Chester and Wales. It is just as described on Travelocity. A thoughtful renovation has been done of the historic church, with very good quality finishes. The original beams show throughout the unit... and you can even follow them through the wall, into the hallway! Our unit had a full kitchen, living room, two bedrooms (one with a queen, and one with two twins), and a loft area (with a desk and futon). When we arrived, Janice had homemade cupcakes for us (wonderful!), and we had tea & coffee, with fresh milk in the fridge.
The unit has no air conditioning, and we arrived on a fairly warm August day. But the unit had skylights that raised at the touch of a button, which combined with low windows that could be opened, created a wonderful draft... it was downright cool in the room!
The unit is within one block of the old city wall, which makes for a wonderful walk (it's about an hour walk... not the 30 minutes stated in brochure). The condo is also about one block from the downtown area of Chester, which is a great place to stroll around and shop.
We had a great meal at The Opera Grill, and used two of the coffee shops on the nearby main street for Breakfast both mornings.
We were able to use on street parking both nites/days, and were given a special parking pass by the owner. Apparently there is a parking garage nearby, but we never had to use it... spaces were available on the street in front of the building.
A wonderfully refreshing stay!
Thanks for an absolutely amazing stay in your apartment. We were welcomed with a bottle of fizz and some homemade carrot cake. The apartment is stunning, with an extremely high quality of finish. It is equipped with everything you could ask for, and the location is perfect.
Would highly recommend!
To say my hubby is 'particular' is a massive understatement so it was with some trepidation I booked an apartment in Chester rather than a certain rather swanky hotel up the road. However, I needn't have worried: everything about The Chapel was perfect for our family weekend away! The location was perfect - central but peaceful; the decor was faultless (my son even had a brand new swanky cream leather sofa bed at his disposal which, he said, was very comfortable) the apartment was extremely well stocked with essentials - even coffee, tea, sugar, biscuits and fresh milk were provided by the lovely Janice. Communication was perfect and Janice was extremely helpful in every respect. It is an absolute gem of a holiday rental and I sincerely hope that others enjoy (and respect!!) it as much as we did!! Unfortunately we couldn't find a pen so didn't leave a comment in the visitors book ☹️. Hope this makes up for it!
PS - also recommend Chester Races for a fun family day out and Moules a Go Go for great food & cocktails in a fun relaxed atmosphere.
This penthouse is absolutely brilliant, beautiful décor, absolutely spotless and a stone's throw away from shops, restaurants and bars and a ten minute walk away from the race course.
Janice (the owner) is a very friendly and helpful lady. She even posted some of our children's clothing items we left behind back to us at her own cost!
Our family had a fantastic stay and we would definitely love to go back in the future. Perfect weekend getaway!!
This property is delightful. It has a blend of historic (ecclesiastical) charm with modern luxury and convenience. The owners have presented it in a way which combines functionality with style. Everything we needed or wanted was here. We have stayed many times in Chester but this was my first time at The Penthouse at The Chapel. It definitely will not be my last.
