Description: Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor, has held a Michelin star for nineteen years running surely a record outside of London. Under the direction of Executive Chef Simon Radley the exceptional modern British menu changes seasonally and uses only the finest ingredients. The cellar is also renowned, having one thousand bins and a sommelier of prodigious knowledge. The dining room itself is as dashing as you would expect with comfy chairs, oriental carpets, fine woods, original artwork, ebony pillars and many-layered tones of gold and taupe. The service is distinguished by its warmth and professionalism. Top marks.

My wife booked a surprise birthday tea at this restaurant. We were very well looked after by the manager and the attentive waiting staff. We went for the tasting menu with accompanying drinks. The food was very good, some of the courses were not to my particular taste but I could not fault the quality of the presentation or the taste. A real master chef style treat. They bought out a little birthday cake and some very nice chocolate 'cigars' when we decided to have a post meal drink, which was a very nice touch. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable evening, a little pricey but you get what you pay for. Thank you!

I have dined at other Michelin restaurants and opted for the taster menu- what a disappointment - the taster menu is an opportunity for me to taste the best - courses ranged from poor to OK- I understand that food is a very personal experience - but that wasn't any wow factor with any of he courses - when you come away remembering the bread it pretty much says it all! The staff were very friendly and did a great job although a bit of an over kill 3 people bringing 2 shot glasses over!!! The meal was crazy expensive and the food didn't warrant the price!

There are many more, much, much more welcoming restaurants in Chester (a beautiful city) which offer food of similar quality, are way better value and are much, much more pleasant. The service here is supercilious, the environment anodyne, the food good, but not in any way exceptional and the price (for all of that) ridiculous. It lack any sort of real class & it's hard to see what the Michelin star is for. Frankly, I suggest you just visit the Cheese shop up the road; it will offer more pleasure and a longer lasting delight. I won't hesitate to revisit The Grosvenor, but I would not dine here again even if it were gratis.

Eaten here twice the last one for my daughter’s 18th always impeccable food and service is second to none. We had the taster menu both times and really enjoyed it, thought I don’t think I could spend my life eating this way a bit to ostentatious for me, but what they do they do very well. Great selection of wines and the sommelier guides you to you preferred choice be sure to make the most of the fabulous bread trolley as the portion size will not fill you but altogether a great place for that special occasion be sure and have coffee and petit four in the bar afterwards nice way to finish off.

Ate here in March 2014 - party of three. The service was second to none and the staff were very friendly. All of the food was excellent but the selection of breads was stunningly good. Yes, it's expensive but for a one off treat it was worth it.
