We had a nice night due to company we were with, service and atmosphere. The food was okay but had some major flaws. There were 4 of us eating.
The service was good, attentive and helpful in a v.busy restaurant. The atmosphere was lovely, great decor and bustling ambience.
We were brought bread and olives while we looked through the menu. It was on a slightly higher price of menu but we don't mind paying for good food as long as the quality is there.
My starter was okay but our friends had ordered the scallops and it was just one scallop for £12 I know it's all about the quality but he said he'd are nicer scallops before for a lot less. My main the lamb was extremely rare even though they said is it okay pink when they took my order I didn't expect it to be still baaaaing!! and the fat was stringy so I had to leave some of it.
The dessert was good I had he cheese board which was of a good size.
When the bill came we thought there must have been a mistake because we had been charged for2 lots of bread and olives even though they had been brought out without us asking for them. We were charged £12 for two lots of bread and olives that we hadn't asked for. We could understand a small surcharge of 3/4 but £6 for dry bread and a couple of olives.

All in all it was a nice meal, we wouldn't rush back due to the value for money. Shame because we love the setting and the atmosphere.

For £14.90 a 2 course lunch was O.K. but different from the choice on the set menu advertised outside which was what tempted us in. The Chicken liver pate portion was generous but served with only 4 very thin small pieces of salty toast so we asked for more which we got-why be so parsimonious in the first place? The salmon with creamed leeks and new potatoes was crispy on the skin but not a generous portion for a good eater. The decor is very nice ,the staff friendly and efficient.
We would go again in the Summer to take advantage of the garden setting and eat outside.

Unacceptable noise levels on what was supposed to be a romantic evening. Two large groups of predominantly male diners ruined the evening, not what I would expect of a mid to high end restaurant. Service was average at best. The menu was not explained adequately upon ordering which led to us having two side dishes which already came with one of our main courses. The food was very good though.

My partner and I ate here whilst staying at the hotel itself as part of a deal - £125 each for 2 nights including a 3 course a la carte meal!

The meal was out of this world!!! Looking at the menu we thought we best check if there was anything on there that we would have to pay a supplement for - there wasn't and we both had fillet steak worth £32!! Our meal in total came to £100 so we definitely got our money's worth!!

Outstanding food, ambience and service!
