“Solid all round performance”

On a short family break to visit the zoo and shops we found the Premier Inn to be very good. In particular the location which is perfect for the city centre and river. Both are less than five minutes walk (and thats a proper five minutes with a seven and four year old in tow). The meal deal for £22 is great value and the food is generally very good value for the money. It is no gastronomic delight of course but if you expected such then you should go to the doctors for some tablets.

The only downside is the car parking which is a bit hit and miss as you are relying effectively on the station ncp carpark which can be very full and is not so secure. It is cheap though at £5.70 for 24 hrs and only a short walk away.

The rooms are very clean and comfortable and nowhere near as basic as some other budget chains. The staff were also very helpful and friendly which to be fair I have found in a lot of premier inns recently.

For once, the advert with Lenny Henry doesn't seem to oversell the chain as is so often the case.

If you are travelling by train and don't want to pay for frills this place is perfect. For car users like myself, it is a bit of a lottery. Not sure why they can't 'sell' you a space in their own small carpark. The turn up and see mentality is their only real undoing.

I would certainly return though for another cheapie break.

We stayed for 5 nights in August when my husband was singing at the Cathedral with a visiting choir and we chose this Premier Inn because he needed to be in walking distance of the Cathedral for morning rehearsals.
Following advice from other reviewers we requested a quiet room (230) which is ideal,no noise from the surrounding clubs etc., and very efficient air conditioning during a hot, sticky week.
I needed a disabled parking slot in the hotel car park and the staff did their best to reserve me one everyday, the charge of £6 per day is competitive for City Centre parking.
Overall a top class Premier Inn with pleasant, very friendly and helpful staff in all areas, highly recommendable.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter, try 230

Having stayed at many premier inns , I must say this is my least favorite of all . The room had no window that opened and even had barbed wire on it , it's the only premier inn that has tried to charge me for parking using my blue badge , and I found some of the staff were quite rude with the exception of the guy in charge of breakfast who could not have been more helpful

What a lovely hotel. Staff were superb - pleasant, polite and professional. The room was absoulutely immaculate and everything that was needed was to hand. Most impressive. We did not eat in the restaurant but it was packed morning and evening which is a good sign. I would stay there again witlhout hesitation.

Good location for an overnight stop at Chester. Room clean and comfortable although 14 yr old did find mattress on the floor rather than a bed not so good. There was a wide choice of food for breakfast and dinner at reasonable prices. Helpful reception to direct us to where we wanted to go but we were lucky to get parking there at just after 2pm.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back at the hotel with no problems with noise.

Stayed here for three nights with my wife and ten year old son, having taken into account location, price, and reviews.Have to say it was a great choice.
We traveled by train and easily walked to the hotel from the station, but could certainly see there was very limited parking if taking your car.
From arrival to departure all the staff were very friendly, polite, and helpful, and discounted tickets for the zoo are available at reception.
The food is excellent, be it breakfast or dinner and very good value.
We look forward to returning in the future.
