“Great value and good position”
Reviewed 17 September 2012

We have stayed at this hotel several times now over the past couple of years and have never had any complaints at all. Very comfortable beds, spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome. Also it is only a few minutes walk from the city centre but just far enough away to be away from any noise late in the evening. Definitely recommend and we will be going there again and again.

Room Tip: We do tend to ask for a quiet room but on the odd occasion this has not been possible, we have not h...

We've stayed at Premier Inn a lot before and staff are always nice and helpful BUT Chester City Centre hotel is a step up! Every single member of staff we encountered were so helpful and friendly.
And a lovely Irish lady called Margaret in the Restaurant was simply wonderful and made us feel like we were guests in her own house! She simply couldn't do enough and my 5 year old son Matthew was genuinely upset when we left! He insisted on having his phot taken with her.
All in all a real pleasure to see staff who genuinely care. It was similar to American hospitality and we would recommend this hotel so highly!
You won't be disappointed!

Excellent friendly staff took time to explain how to get to the city centre and gave us a map with directions. lady on front desk brilliant 10/10. good location for exploring Chester room very good resturant was quite busy on our stay otherwise very good. Managed to get car parking space. might be difficult to park otherwise. Did get woken early one morning by 3 different refuse trucks !, as said by a fellow reviewer use of underpass not much fun due to begging.

Fair play if you were walking straight from the train station (5 minutes) but as check in was not until 2pm we decided to take the shuttle bus in to the city centre for some lunch first. When it was time to check in we found it very difficult to find. It is in a very busy location and to reach the hotel from the city centre you had a choice of either going underground (we felt uncomfortable doing this after the first time because of people asking for money/ looking very threatening as we did not give any) or crossing a busy multi-system road. Apart from this we had no other problems at all.

Room was standard, as in every Premier Inn, you always know what to expect - clean, tidy and reliable. The room was quite chilly however this is better than other PIs we have stayed in which were extremely hot. Window did not open anyway. This was not a problem as the duvet was warm and it was perfect temperature for a good night's sleep. We both slept very well.

The main point of this review, is the service that was provided at this hotel, by far the best we've ever had in Premier Inn (and we have stayed in a few!). Receptionist spent a few minutes greeting us, informing us and offering us a free map of the area as we were visitors (she also told us exactly where everything was on the map, which was better than just handing us one!). Also, when we were checking out, she greeted us with a smile and asked us if we knew about the 'Good Night Sleep Guarantee' policy which they have, we assured her that her colleague had done so the previous day. She then asked if we had enjoyed our stay and thanked us! Some really nice, positive workers in this hotel!

Really enjoyed the stay, will definitely be returning if in Chester again!!

Premier Inns speak for themselves, you can expect the standard rooms, the standard breakfast/dinner offers and it's all very standard. Not much in the way of character, but then again, that's not really the reason for staying there. That being said, it was very clean, very tidy and a good central location.

Parking was a bit of an issue, but managed to find some free parking in Shot Tower Close area. The hotel will recommend the NCP at the train station, at around £5.70 for 24 hours, but Shot Tower Close is closer and unrestricted (and free!!).

The other issue that we had was that we were very close to the communal corridor door (we were in room 130, on the first floor). Throughout the night the door banged and we didn't get a good night sleep... one specific example was hearing a family walking past our room and the door banging at 4am!! Very annoying. On check out the reception staff asked if we had any issues with our stay, i explained the issue, initially she wanted to fob me off with a customer relations number, but when i stood my ground i spoke to the manager directly who offered a full refund! Apparently this is a company policy, if you don't have a good night sleep, then they will fully refund you.

In summary, would have preferred a good night sleep, but a free stay was appreciated and DON'T stay anywhere near the communal fire door/lift... stay the far end of the hotel!

Great location, but be careful of your room selection.

Room Tip: Don't stay close to the lift/communal fire doors (loud noise to wake you up).

We stayed here with our two teenagers for 3 nights, brilliant location for the centre of Chester, as it is just a short walk to reach. We picked the location of this premier inn to explore Liverpool, which was about 35 mins away by car. The room was clean and spacious with twin beds for the kids instead of the usual pull out one, much more suitable for them. The breakfast was brilliant, hot choices were re-filled straight away when necessary, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There was no parking available on site, as full, but we parked at the train station, only about a 5 min walk away. We had a lovely stay, and will definately use premier inn again.

This hotel has a great location, and is every thing you expect from a Premier Inn. Modern clean and good value for money. Unfortuately, the maid missed cleaning our bathroom on the second day, but as there were more tyhan enought toels in the first place this was not a problem.
