“Worth a visit but?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

Visited for the Tuscan Tuesday offer. The starter and mains were very good for the offer price but the sign outside said it included a bottle of chianti per couple but the menu said merlot with the chianti at a £5 supplement, We asked if we could change to a montepulciano, ( which was cheaper on the wine list), but told only if we paid for it. We then ordered desserts including a cheese board served the Tuscan way with honey, had this at other restaurants so knew what to expect, when it arrived there was plenty of cheese but just 4 Jacobs crackers and nothing else. When I inquired about the honey and some butter I was just told no but I could have some balsamic vinegar which I declined and sent it back. We did receive a complimentary after dinner drink but the moment was gone, I can only suggest to check exactly what you are ordering.

“Birthday Meal”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

My Finance suggested this restaurant as food was very good and cocktail menu was extensive, However i am afraid food was not entirely up to standard, monkfish in particular seemed not cooked properly, however service was faultless and it would damage a future opportunity to re-visit in the future

“Good but....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014

We arrived at the restaurant at about 6 pm without a reservation but we were seated quickly. The service was excellent and the waiting- on staff were really pleasant. By 6:30, the restaurant had filled up but was mainly made up of parties including a hen night. By 6:45, the place was so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak . We left after our main course. So, my advise is to not go on a Saturday night as the atmosphere was not really conducive for a couple's night out. The food, although attractively served, was good but not outstanding. Pity about the noise.

“Great Italian place in the centre of Chester”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2014

One of my favourite places in town - for eating or just for a drink. Modern décor behind an older façade, but very Italian. Great atmosphere, the staff are friendly and the food rarely disappoints. 2-course lunch menu - 2 courses with a glass of wine or soft drink - is great value, with a wide choice to go at. Service can be a bit slow sometimes, so possibly not the ideal place to visit if time is limited. Tucked up a side street, though, Bolly's is worth seeking out, for drinks, dinner or lunch. On a warm summer's day, sitting on the small terrace with friends and a bottle or 2 of wine is a lovely treat!

“'basta' pasta”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2014

The lunch time special menu is great value at £9.95 for 2 courses and a glass of house wine.

My wife's favourites are Parma ham and melon ( sadly this was not on this menu) and lasagne, and she was not disappointed when she tried the baked aubergine instead ( like a mini island in a sea of tomato based sauce) and the lasagne came not as an individual dish, but a deep slice cut from a larger serving. I was happy to see minestrone back on the lunch menu ( part of my 5 a day veg), followed by Calzone. Too 'stuffed' to consider a dessert!
