“A new venue for us!”

After reading about the many awards this restaurant/pub had received, we decided to give it a try. We found it to be a very busy and atmospheric pub, in a really lovely village.

The menu didn't look that different from many other places, but we found that the food was really excellent. I had the chicken breast in a wild mushroom, chorizo and sherry sauce, served on a bed of kale. It was delicious...beautifully cooked with a real depth of flavour. The rest of our party had burgers and fish and chips. There were clean plates all round! We were all too full to sample the excellent sounding dessert menu.

The service was prompt, friendly and efficient.

We all decided that we had really enjoyed our dining experience and will definitely return. The next time we'll ask for a table away from the bar, as it was extremely busy and quite noisy at times.

“Food was poor, service was great.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 March 2014

I really wanted to like this pub, the staff were great, really friendly and welcoming. When we arrived they had already set the table with highchairs, colouring things and small tableware for the children.

The pub is lovely inside with a fantastic outdoor play area for kids..

But the food was pretty bad. Macaroni cheese in a bland, floury sauce that did not taste of cheese. Tasteless terrine. Fish and chips where the fish was so slimy we could not eat it. On a more positive note, the chips were lovely!.

We won't be going back. There are many places in the area serving much better food.

“pricey”

the 8oz steaks were more like 10oz, however apart from chips there was no veg. We used a tastecard so it wasn't too disappointing.

“Average!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2014 via mobile

Thought we'd try here for Sunday Lunch as we had heard good reports.

Staff were very pleasant, and our drinks order was delivered to our table promptly.

Whilst deciding on what to order, a couple of roast dinners were delivered to other diners......which resulted in two of our party of five ordering fish and chips!

The three that ordered roasts weren't very impressed; the meat and the stuffing were cold, the roasties weren't crispy and the yorkshire puddings were overcooked........however, on a positive note, there was a good selection of veg, which was hot.

The two who ordered the fish and chips, thought their meals were tasty, although one wasn't impressed with the crushed garden peas!

All in all, the meal was average. If I am totally honest, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to friends, as there are so many other restaurants in the area that we feel are better value for money, serving far superior food.

“Inedible food!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2014

I have eaten twice at the ring o bells and both times found the food to be terrible. The first time we went as a family for the Sunday lunch. It was unpleasant and overpriced for bog-standard barely edible food. The kids menu was basically fish fingers, chips and beans, followed by an own brand version of a Calippo- which we had to pay extra for. All in all very expensive for poor cafe food, soggy vegetables etc. The second time I ate there it was even worse. Disgusting whitebait fish that I couldn't eat, and I normally eat just about anything. This was followed by calamarI which was actually two ink sacks of the squid placed artistically on my dish. I just couldn't eat any of it. Oh, and my friend got food poisoning from sea food here too!! If it wasn't for the fact it does pizza and has a good playground and is well placed, with a nice garden, I couldn't understand why people go here to eat at all!

This isn't a real review & probably a competitor as the mysterious "Sohos" has not written a review before or after.

We have NEVER sold fish fingers, baked beans or own brand lollies.

More importantly, we have NEVER had any cases of food poisoning. Our kitchen is EHO 5 Star rated.

When writing a fictitious review at least check the menu first.
