Having seen the Ring O' Bells mentioned in the magazine Cheshire Life many times, and mention of it by friends who had dined there before, my wife and I, together with a friend decided to visit last Boxing Day. When I rang for a reservation two days previously, I was a little apprehensive as to whether we could be accommodated at such short notice but the answer was positive. The greeting we had from members of the staff was quite unique. Our every need was attended to in a lovely friendly way.
We had pre-dinner drinks in the bar where we perused the menu. This related to me that the establishment was a gastro-pub. We really went to town devouring starters and main course which were delicious and expertly presented. As the food already eaten was so nice and very filling, we were rather uncertain whether it was advisable to have deserts, but we did, and very glad too, because they were absolutely scrumptious.
My wife and our friend ended with liquer coffees. Being the chauffer for the day, yours truly was restricted to sparkling water and just a small glass of red wine. We eventually left for home full to the brim after bidding our farewells to the staff.
The one hundred mile round trip from home in Dwygyfylchi to Chester was more than worth the visit to a second to none Gastro Pub.
