This hotel was a pleasure from the booking to the departure.... From the extra feather pillows, reasonable city centre parking (£10) to the offer of dinner bed and breakfast we ended up with for a very reasonable price (see the hotels website under offers rather than booking with agents)- the race day lunch was also fantastic and the cocktails superb! A real treat and I would definitely recommend to anyone. The hotel was superbly clean and the staff were all amazing too. Well done Abode and you will definitely receive my vote and I look forward to visiting your hotels very soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the racecourse

I booked this trip as a birthday celebration for my 30th with some girly friends. I emailed the hotel a few months in advance to check if they had any offers. They e-mailed back straight away and offered a "celebrate the sun' package which was only £109 per room per night and included a two-course dinner in the Cafe grill and breakfast. This sounded like excellent value so we booked straight away and didn't have to pay until checkout which is always a nice bonus! The booking process was easy and the staff so helpful.

When we arrived we were so impressed by the high standards of this hotel and the comfortable rooms for the price we had paid. The hotel staff even went the extra mile and decorated the room for me with banners and balloons which my friends had called them in advance to arrange. They said they didn't have any decorations at the hotel but would pop to a local shop to purchase some and add it to my friends' bill. My friends said they would do the decorating when we arrived but the hotel staff offered to put the decorations up and all was done when we arrived. What excellent service!

I expected the two course dinner and breakfast to be quite average because of the price we paid but dinner was excellent with some choice of options and breakfast was one of the best I have had in a hotel. There was a menu to choose from which I love rather than having to queue up from a hot food buffet. Breakfast was served in the lovely Michael Caines restaurant.

I had a brilliant night's sleep too and didn't hear any noise from outside or other guests rooms which is quite rare for a hotel stay. The hotel is also in a great location - just a few minutes walk to the centre of Chester.

All in all a perfect stay and one I will remember for a great 30th birthday. Thank you Abode Chester :)

Lovely hotel with great parking. good location. our room overlooked the racecourse with small balcony, very nice. First class cocktail maker who made drinks to suit. Perferred they didn't have a box of expensive crisps & water on display but hid the tea making in cupboard.

The hotel is very well positioned as all Chester attractions are in walking distance. We enjoyed the mid week taster menu very much at Michael Caines' restaurant and would recommend it for quality and value for money. Include the wines too - they make a difference!

I stayed here while in the area on business. The hotel was chosen by a colleague and it did not disappoint.

The good.....excellent room very modern with a nice comfy bed godd sized clean and tidy bathroom and the floor to ceiling windows with a great view of the race course. Prices in the bar were standard for a hotel of this nature but we chosse to take a short walk in to the town the hotel is perfectly placed so all in all very happy to stay here.

Now for the not so good finding the way in to the car park was a bit of a pain due to their being a ramp for the hotel and a ramp for the residenceh and it was not signposted particularly well. and you need to buzz to gain access to the underground car park but that was not an issue. the issue was having to pay an additional £10 for parking on top of the room price which i thought was not only expensive but a bit cheeky.

That being said a very noce hotel with friendly staff modern clean and tidy and close to plenty of bars and eateries. I would happilliy stay there again (but still moan about the cost of parking ;-)

A great location! Very pleasant staff and efficient! Booked a 'Desirable' room with view of racecourse - bit disappointed with restricted view but lovely quiet room - small double bed but great shower!

My husband and I had a delightful stay with a lovely room on the third floor half overlooking chest racecourse. We booked for 1 night and decided not to include anything in the price other than the room as there is no advantage to it. Despite this we did eat in the 5th floor restaurant and have breakfast. Both were delicious and the bar staff in particular were extremely pleasant.

The only con was that neither on booking (done on the phone), checking in or driving into the hotel car park did it mention a fee for parking, this is thrust on the bill as you leave at £10 per night. I think this cheapens the hotel and given the cost of staying should not be charged for. As seems to be the opinion of many of the reviewers on this site.

Lastly worth comment was that I retired early after dinner and my husband went to a local pub for a drink, he returned when the pubs close at 11pm to find the 24 hour bar closing and told he can order a drink and have it in his room. This didn't work for us as I am pregnant and he would have had to drink it alone in the dark very quietly.

All in all though a very nice hotel, lovely view and a 5 minute walk from the centre of Chester. Perfect for us.
