Really enjoyed staying at this hotel - friendly staff, excellent service, great food, extremely comfortable room with amazing view of the racecourse. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

Our stay was for two nights in a comfortable room with the offer of a dinner on one night for "taste the autumn".

Unfortunately intially the hotel is not clearly marked up for the parking but upon finally finding it the parking could not be more secure. The check in was easy and quick, and upon being given our room key was a nice touch that the lift would only be key operated so only accessible by residents.

The rooms were spacious, fresh, modern, airy and clean, with us being fortuante to have a view over the castle from the floor to ceiling windows on the fouth floor. Bathroom was clean but there is a design fault with the shower as the floor towel was drenched upon exiting the shower so make sure the provided bath mat is underneath or it could be slightly eventful. The facilities within the room, air conditioning, tv, dvd and stereo along with wi-fi was great for the price of the hotel and could easily be used for a longer stay than a few days. One bad point was that we did not get a 'refresh' visit on our second day. We did not require fresh linen or personal towels but the soaking wet towel for the shower would've been nice to have replaced, so a quick check needed.

The service for the "taste the autumn" meal in the bar and grill was great, however although a promotional offer and we did not expect the earth, there was a very limited selection of food in that if you wanted the steak there was an additional charge which was a shame as it left a fish or vegetarian option.

The first mornings breakfast was well cooked offering a great selection of food and prompt efficient service with a view from the 5th floor. Unfortuantely the second morning we arrived to a full restaurant and were placed in a back corner and appeared to be forgotten about even though the service staff had a station right next to us. We eventually got our cooked food and again it was cooked well.

Upon booking out just before 1200pm we had to advise that we had been told the parking was £10 for our whole stay when it is in fact £10 per day. However there were no arguements when we showed our confirmation email and the error was corrected promptly and quickly. I would suggest a bigger reception counter as due to all the computers and bits and pieces on there if there is another customer using it there is limited room to actually see around.

For a new hotel this is definately worth the money we paid and hoepfully the teething problems will correct themselves with ongoing staff training.

as a frequent user of hotels in chester for business, company policy dictates one of the holiday inns, both are ok, but the racecourse one is old and noisy at night and early morning.
We had a meeting at abode and booked comfort rooms, these were excellent. Spacious very modern design and finish, large bathroom and a triple bed! best nights sleep i have had in ages, Breakfast at the top floor restaurant was prompt and staff very helpfull. Fantastic views over chester. we are now reviewing our policy on where we stay, great hotel.

Good location, great restaurant (excellent breakfast and evening meal) but the service at reception when checking out was poor. Some charges were on the bill that shouldn't have been, but instead of resolving the issue quickly and efficiently a long conversation with the receptionist took place and we had to get the manager involved. I expect more in terms of service.

The "desirable" room was satisfactory. The bed was much smaller than expected, but the finishes & fixtures were modern and clean. The room was very quiet though.

The hotel is quite small, with the majority of the building taken up by offices. Parking is in abundance and the hotel is easy to get to.

Probably won't stay again though due to the service.

I booked on line via a hotelopia website. I arrived at the hotel to be told they did not have my booking, and the place was full. I guess this could be the fault of the booking agent and not the hotel. They were helpful in suggesting another hotel.
I must say that before I found out my dilemna, trying to park for this hotel was appaling.
you buzz through the intercom-was asked if I was staying at the hotel....at that point I thought I was, and the mystery voice releases the gate....all good...until you follow the sign that says 'Hotel Parking' which takes you to a small bay of about 6 parking spaces.
My wife had to sit in the car whilst I went to book in and find out where we could park. Of course at this point....I then found out I wasn't even booked in....despite handing over the reciept I had from my internet booking........at least it resolved the parking issue.
I am sure the hotel is very nice. BUT walk to it, and check your reservation by phone before arriving.

We checked in early to find we had been upgraded to one of their suites, the room was superb with spectacular views of Chester and the racecourse. Staff we friendly and welcoming. Dinner in the Michael Caines Restaurant was out of this world, the food was excellent and a good wine list. I would highly recomend this to anyone. Well done Abode.

The staff at this Hotel were more than helpful and the resaurant was really nice clean and the food well presented. Nothing was too much trouble. The location is excellent if you book their car park before you arrive, failing to do this parking near is difficult.
We would stay here again at any time.
