on arrival it was what we expected not to busy although it was a Saturday afternoon we were there to enjoy ourselves we paid for a luxury suite which is what we got the furniture matching the age of the building the bed very comfy although the road was outside we slept like babies the food was very good and so was the drink the boys serving behind the bar and serving the food couldn't do enough for you we would definitely stay there again a nice walk into town and within walking distance of the racecourse. Room Tip: corner suites are large and sunny and if on the south side are a lot quieter

My friend and I stayed last night for 1 night b&b at £60 for the night.
Our room was adequate, furniture is dated, you get tea and coffee and theres toiletries in the ensuite. Shower was powerful enough to have a decent shower. Plenty of plugs for all your gadgets to go on charge.
Bed was comfy which is always a bonus.
My big issue was the windows don't let a lot of air in and it felt a bit stuffy, it was too warm to close the windows which meant you could hear road noise all night! Even with the windows shut and the secondary glazing you can still here it.
There was a bit of noise from other guests coming in too in but thats too be expected.
Breakfast was lovely, staff were very helpful.
Its just an average hotel/pub, can't grumble too much at the price I paid. Don't expect luxury or a quiet break here and you'll be fine

The hotel was tired but adequate as mentioned in previous reviews. We were originally for two nights with our eleven year old daughter but after the first night, when the karaoke went on till midnight, we checked out before the DJ night. The manager was very understanding and told us that as a student pub, these nights were important to their business. It was so loud that the vibrations went through the furniture and the TV was not able to be heard above the noise! Not recommended for anyone that needs sleep or to be able to watch TV in the evening!

We stayed here for 1 night (last night) and there is one thing that stands out a mile - it's the service from the staff - it was excellent!! could not do enough for us, they are all young and very very pleasant. The hotel is clean - food is lovely - got steak, chips and all the trimmings and a drink for under £7! This B&B/Hotel could do with a re-furb which is taking place soon - but ........... I would return. We had a room at the front no. 21 which was opposite the bus station who had their bright lights on All night long, and also the constant flow of traffic as it's on a one way system which is not everyone's cup of tea especially us who lives in the country side - I didn't sleep much but it was ok, as I had a busy day shopping and Bingo in the evening.

My mum and I stayed here for one night, great price of £50 b & b on laterooms. Free Parking and the service from the young staff was great. The main staircases and rooms are a little tired looking, but apparently there is a re-furb taking place soon - our tv wasn't working but someone came up and sorted it out for us immediately. The beds were lovely and comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was huge and beautifully cooked. As someone else mentioned the hotel is on a traffic island and so there is traffic noise, however if the windows are closed this is not really noticeable. A very short walk takes you into the centre, so for convenience you really couldn't beat it. I would definitely recommend anyone wanting a cheap break in a great location with friendly helpful staff

Room Tip: Take some earplugs if you are a light sleeper

We stayed at this place for one night this week. It is well situated for Chester town centre, just 5 mins away. The rooms are small but clean and the breakfast was fine. Cheap too through Late Rooms - £50. The Pub/Hotel is sited on its own roundabout so roads two sides and car park at back. We were opposite the coach depot so did get a bit of noise but it was so hot that we had to have the window open, on a cooler night the window would have been closed and, as it's double glazed, would probably have been quiet. All in all, it was fine for a cheap stay and free parking too.

Room Tip: We were in 22, friends were in 27 on the opposite side and slept well.

We went for the luxury room at the George and dragon in the hope of having a chilled and relaxing romantic weekend away. The bed was nice, it was comfortable, but other than that there was nothing luxury about it! the 'large plasma tv' was small and would not work, so we tried the DVD player which appeared to have power, so we went out and brought a DVD to watch - but guess what? that didnt work either!
It was very hot and the windows were sealed shut which made it impossible to get any air, it made for a very uncomfortable night! It was noisy and there were lots of sirens during the night - but i accept this was not the fault of the hotel - although i'd bare it in mind if you are thinking of staying there.
When we were leaving i informed the lady on the bar about the dvd player and she seemed to know it didnt work - so why leave it there??!!
Overall the hotel was shabby and tired, nothing screamed luxury - would have been ok if we had paid significantly less and it was a one night stay while clubbing - but not the relaxing luxury break we hoped for!
