Description: Located on the bank of the river Dee at a spot known locally as the Groves, in the the heart of the historic city of Chester. We are fanatical about flames; silly about smokers and utterly obsessed with the smells, tastes and traditions of the Deep South. Our smokin' hot menu is available all day every day, from smokehouse classics including ribs, Texas style beef brisket, to steak and burgers. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week and a specially designed kids menu that includes ‘grown-up’ tastes and some fun healthy options, the entire family can experience the flavours of the deep South.

Came here yesterday with the other half 26th June seated to our table with a bag of popcorn which is a nice touch I have ever had. Food was really good portion sizes could be little bigger but won't be picky. Price overall was amazing and thank you to our server grace would come again :).

Before I start let me tell you that my wife and I are in our 60"s and have reached the stage in our life where we now what we like but will try anything, we have been here twice before so when we were going back to Chester we booked an inside table for 7.15pm
we had wanted 7pm but they could only do 7.15pm.So one week later we turned up Hickory"s only to be told it would 15/20 minutes before we could have our table, we then went to the bar, A BAD MISTAKE , It was full of students who must have been celebrating something <they always are> as they were having a shouting competition so we went outside, then staff came to show us our table, which turned out to be outside shoved into a corner next a large family with a wide range of children who
just took over the whole room. These tables and chairs were of the patio style plastic cane type. We refused this table the staff saying it was an inside room, looking around I saw it had now become a student hang out and was no longer the very good restaurant, even the staff were students who were more interested in talking to friends than dealing with customers
We left and found somewhere else to eat, so to sum up if you are looking for somewhere very loud noisy full of students so that you end up with a none alcoholic hangover then come here you will be in your element but if your aged over 35 do not waste your time

I have had both lunch and dinner here. Its a 'TGI' style restaurant independently owned.
Great ribs and slow cooked meats.
The restaurant has a very nice outdoor seating area and it sits right on the banks of the River Dee so great outlook and surroundings.
Easily walkable from Chester centre.

I visited here last Wednesday for a friend's retirement party bar staff very friendly and helpful. As it was a nice evening I took my drink outside to view the river and was told I couldn't sit at the tables as they were reserved for diners only and pointed to a place around the corner but was full of smokers I don't smoke and was told I would have to sit at the bar. I wouldn't have minded if there had been a queue but two tables were occupied. We had booked for 7.30 but we're late sitting down as table wasn't ready and didn't get our food until nearer 9pm. Food overcooked and overpriced.

it is was it says it is. there were a few unusual alcohol-free drinks which was nice as we were all driving. The food was nice, nothing outstanding with the ribs,. my niece said her burger was nice, so did my sister, but again nothing out of the ordinary. the coleslaw we were given was quite runny. the staff were pleasant so that was nice. my niece was quite disappointed as they had removed beef ribs from the menu, and that's why we went lol !!
