I am very surprised at the last few reviews on here about Sergio's. I am a regular customer and have never had a bad meal or bad service. I went last Saturday night and the restaurant was busy but the staff are always helpful and friendly even if we have to wait for a bit longer for the table. Food was fantastic as it always is and the service was excellent even though the restaurant was packed. I had calamari and seabass which was excellent my partner had stuffed mushrooms and a calzone which was excellent too.

We have had in the past lovely meals until lunch today. We both had the special menu - my starter had far too much mozzarella in it and the main chicken pasta was very dry - on a positive note my partners pork ribs fell off the bone and his steak was cooked to perfection. Maybe caught them on a bad day, but not as good as previous visits.

Possibly the greatest italian i've ever had and i've eaten in Italy a fair bit. Really is that good, was busy on a late Saturday afternoon so would definitely recommend booking.

Oh and the ribs. You have to try the ribs. Made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck (in a good way. Amazing.

The food here is really great.
The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the staff are all very friendly.
Very reasonable prices, with a good choice of dishes.
Will definitely go back again when visiting Chester.

We were visiting friends in Chester for the weekend and booked Sergio's because we had a wonderful meal there twelve months earlier. It was our turn to choose the restaurant and chose on the basis of last years visit. We booked at table for four for 8:00pm due to our guest working patterns more than a week prior. On arrival at 7:55 we were told to get a drink from the bar and we would be seated soon. We declined to order a drink as if we had wanted to drink at the bar we would have gone to pub. Their were five or six other groups with numerous people in each group also waiting to be seated including one of the previous reviewers. We were eventually seated at 8:45 and this would have been later had at least two groups decided they had waited long enough and left. The waitress gave us very little time to read the menu before hovering over us to take the order. We ordered drinks and asked for a little time and she returned with the drinks and then waited pad in and for our order. Luckily we are quick readers and ordered no starters only mains. We ordered Fettucine al Ragu (very dry & tasteless), Penne all Matriciana (no spice or taste), Lasagna al Forno (very dry and tasteless), and Farfalle Casalinga (dry, no flavour). Still not totally dis-hearted by the mains we tried the deserts. We ordered Tiramisu (no coffee flavour), Torta ‘Senza Luce’ (Blackout Cake) (very dry and very rich), Panna Cotta Coppa (heavy), and Mousse al Limone (lacks flavour) for all this we settled the bill at a price of £80. We left feeling very short-changed and hungry and angry. This restaurant should learn a very simple lesson. Do not allow people to walk in without a reservation when you know you have people who have made a reservation due to arrive. The words sorry we are full is something most people understand of a busy and popular restaurant. Do not keep people waiting and then serve them poor food.
