“Not a great Roman experience”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2014

Much of the exhibition is tired and broken with bits missing. It needs much love to bring it back up to scratch.
That said, my four year old daughter thought it was fine if a little boring for her.

“Interesting for kids less for adults”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2014

It begins with an audio introduction and then various reconstructed scenes of Roman life - nothing radical. You can see down into real excavations of various layers of Chester foundations, but some was poorly maintained - lights didn't work etc. Probably great for schoolkids to get an introduction but didn't add much for adults with general knowledge.

“Skip the museum and just do the walking tour”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2014

The museum had very little to it and is not worth bothering with. However the roman walking tour was very good - we really enjoyed it and at £2.50 per person is a bargain.

“Closed to adults but schoolchildren allowed”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 March 2014

This attraction's website advertised that it was open from 9am to 5pm so we arrived at 11am on Thursday morning this week but were not allowed in. Lines of school children were going in and we were told that it would be another 2.5 hours at least before we could go in as educational tours were taking place. No "closed" signs were displayed. Terrible PR !

“Digging”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 March 2014

Glad I went but also glad I left my wife back in the hotel. Most of the area is devoted to digging holes in the floor and exposing the Roman footings. Great once but then it was again, then again , then again. ! They had some simple other trinkets but not really worth the £5.50 entrance fee.
