My parents stayed here on a Saturday night and we joined them for dinner in the restaurant.
The public rooms are smart and the gardens and location pretty. Ideal for the wedding which was in full swing throughout the evening. The service was maybe a little slow as a result, but staff were friendly and helpful.
The restaurant has quite a formal feel to it and the menu sounded interesting, however, the food when it arrived was uniformly disappointing. My husbands steak and kidney pie was a shallow dish of stew with a puff pastry shell balanced on top, a few cold chips and overcooked veg. My daughter ordered crab linguine which was cooked just right except sugar had clearly been added, instead of salt. To be fair, another meal was provided quickly for which we were not charged. Overall for the price we paid, the food was very ordinary. Happily my parents reported that breakfast was much better.
Although we were not staying, I did have a quick look at my parent's suite. The loud animal prints and mega sized TV may not be to everyones taste, but the room was a good size and well equipped. Encasing the bed in a rickety four poster frame, however, only makes it difficult to get in and out in the middle on the night without damaging your shins!
This is a good hotel and obviously popular with parties and weddings, but with so many excellent restaurants/gastropubs in the locality, they really need to up the standards in the restaurant.

Stayed at the hotel as part of a weekend away. The serviceand food were all first class. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated and very clean. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Would certainly use this hotel again.

We recently got married at Rowton Hall and stayed over for a night with some of our family and freinds. Running up to the wedding we also visited for numerous lunches and dinners.

The hotel and grounds are stunning, one of the reasons we picked it for our wedding.

The rooms are lovely, recently updated, clean and individual in their decor, we were given the choice of several rooms and were able to pick the one we liked best, which overlooked the front patio and grounds.

Breakfast was lovely, good choice and great service in a relaxed atmosphere (The Restaurant is a nice size, nicely decorated and quite but with a good atmosphere).

We've had lunches at Rowton Hall in the last few months, they do a great lunch menu and always have offers on. Whilst you relax in the lounge with a drink they take your order and escort you to your table, once there the food arrives promptly and every meal we've had there has been lovely. We've also had afternoon tea on the front patio and again it was really nice. The General Manager is a chef by trade so the standard of the food is very high, everyone at our wedding also commented on the quality of the food.

Its never been really mad busy when we've been at Rowton Hall, which is a good thing, theres always a relaxed atmosphere, we've got two young children and we always feel relaxed when we go there and the kids feel comfortable.

The lead up to our wedding was excellent, very attentive, always prepared and on the day everything pretty much went like clockwork. They do lots of weddings and you can tell they have the planning, service, food and general management of the day very well thought out, practised and polished. I would recommend anyone to marry there!

To summarise, by far the best thing about Rowton Hall is the impeccable service, whether, lunch, dinner or a wedding, from the Manager to the bar staff and waiters, everyone is very well trained, polite, courteous and good at what they do. When you leave Rowton Hall, you feel you've been very well looked after and cant wait to go back.

Unfortunately we didnt get the chance to use the spa (2 kids) but it looks lovely, clean and recently refurbished.

We recently stayed in a De Vere Hotel in Cheshire after our wedding for 4 nights, a hotel with a very good reputation and it just didn't meet the standards of Rowton Hall and we wished we had stayed there instead.

I highly recommend Rowton Hall for lunch, dinner, an overnight stay or indeed a wedding and the staff add that personal touch that you dont get too often, for me that makes the difference.

From the time we selected Rowton for our family wedding the personal attention was second to none. Many thanks to Tony and Keith and all the staff for attending to our every need from the moment we walked in the front door, through all of the planning to the eventual day itself. Nothing was too much trouble and the attention to detail was fantastic.

We have dined at Rowton on several occasions and the food has always been excellent - as it was on this occasion for the Wedding breakfast and the evening buffet and even the breakfast in the morning -appreciated even with a sore head!

As far as the rooms are concerned they are all indvidually designed and I found it hard to choose between them all due to the very high standard of them from the standard to the suites. In summary I would recommend Rowton Hall to anyone for various events from weddings through to seminars, lunches and even the Spa. They have a keen eye on value for money and an even keener eye on service - overall brilliant

Our room (a suite) was magnificent, huge TV, comfortable sitting area and the bed was the last word in home comforts. The bathroom had the lot, down to a waterproof Tele viewable from the shower!
The staff both in the hotel and the Spa/swimming pool/gym areas could not be more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The Hotel was of a size where the Manager and Owners were 'hands on' greeting their guests personally. This in our view went a long way towards treating the customer as an individual not just another room number.
The grounds surrounding the Hotel extend to a good few acres mostly laid to lawn (large) with other areas that could best be called work in progress. Sufficient walking area to ease down an ample evening meal
The restaurant menu was imaginative and presentation was impecable. It helped that both our meals were to our taste and of sufficient size to leave us comfortably full but not bloated.
A short distance towards Chester is a Park and Ride, in our view the only way to see the city. Car parks nearer the centre are, by our standards, excessively costly while the P&R Bus delivers you much nearer the centre for £1.70 a head without any of the attendant hassle of driving in a strange town.
There is a fair bit to do in the city, certainly a lot more than the time we had allotted ourselves. Never mind will just have to go back soon.

8 of us had a few days away, and we stayed in The Rowton Hall, and we certainly we were not disappointed. We were recommended, and it came up to all our expectations, and more. The location of the hotel, so close to the city of Chester, yet in the heart of the country. The bedrooms were all very well equipped, and the decor all very individual, and very comfy beds. We had a special dinner party, and the food and service was second to none. The Spa had everything one could wish for, and all the treatments were a luxury. Overall we had a very comfortable 2 nights, and we shall certainly return. The staff were very committed and attentive at all times. Very good value for money and now we can recommend The Rowton Hall Hotel too.

Room Tip: Be nice and smile at all times

From the welcoming flags showing the nationalities attending the wedding to the service and smiles we received when picking up things that had been left behind we cannot fault this hotel as a wedding venue! Everyone was made to feel special. The food was excellent and served so quickly every meal was piping hot. The rooms were beautiful. The grounds were perfect for the children to play safely whilst the adults relaxed in the lovely surroundings. Parking was easy and access to main routes very good indeed. Having free access to the lovely spa was wonderful.
