As a seasoned traveler staying in five star hotels on a regular basis, I was totally impressed by the standards and service provided by the team at Rowton Hall. My husband and I eat in the restaurant and enjoyed a delicious and well presented meal and nothing was to much trouble the service was outstanding.

We stayed in a really beautiful well designed and very clean room and had the best nights sleep for a very long time; the next morning we swam and I enjoyed a relaxing massage; I look forward to our next visit.

Rowton Hall was everything we hoped it would be: connecting rooms were luxurious and home from home; food was excellent - the canopies in the bar before dinner were a particularly nice touch; service was quick and attentive but personal and friendly; the leisure facilities were ideal - the children (13 & 11) loved the pool and tennis courts - Mum thoroughly enjoyed the spa - the range of treatments is extensive and the atmosphere and staff are just perfect! Also, location is ideal for visiting Chester and Cheshire Oaks. All in all, couldn't fault a thing and can't wait to go back!

We booked a Dinner B&B in a standard room but on arrival we were upgraded to a suite to our delight. Room was very clean and of a high standard - watching Sky sports while in the bath was a bit of a bonus! Food also was good and wine list was also very impressive.
We used the spa facilities throughout our short stay and my partner raved about her body massage.
Staff were very attentive and polite.
We are sure to return.

There are never any staff about and they are very slow at responding to requests or questions. Hard to get through by phone, often have to call several times before they answer.

We have eaten in the restaurant for years due to family living near by but service levels and food quality have been on a steady decline. The service levels last time I ate there were particually poor as the senior management were in the bar drinking with friends and had all the staff running after them to the expense of the paying customers.

The furniture is dated and some rooms in dire need of decorating and "patching over". It wouldn't take much and considering the room prices you would expect it to be done regularly.

On prices, considering the price of drinks, you would think that bottles from the fridge to be cold, and the draughts beer not to be flat. They never are!! As for champagne..... Almost £10 per glass and we were given flat 'champagne' I asked to see the bottle to be shown a sparkling wine worth all of about £4.

The place is becoming a shambles. I will not be going back whilst under current management unless they make some drastic changes.

Stayed for 2 nights for a spa treat with my mum. We were dinner, bed & breakfast which meant of an evening we had a set menu - which amazingly was the same each night, the only thing that changed was the soup. Only 1 vegetarian option - again the same each night. I asked for an alternative, which arrived lukewarm. Service was very slow too. The room was lovely but far too hot. The spa was nice but nothing special. Reception staff were friendly. Definitely wouldn't describe it as a luxury hotel and most certainly won't be going back there.

A lovely location and building but the service is just not quite up to the standard you'd hope. We'd booked a suite but (it being v.hot and summer) when we opened the window we found we looked onto the very noisy kitchen extractors. We asked to move and this took over an hour to sort out with us being shown 3 further rooms that all back onto the extractor fans, followed by 2 down graded rooms that the young man showing us tried to insist were the same grade, when they very obviously were not. Eventually we were given a suitable quiet room - but this shouldn't take so long and why are they surprised people ask to change rooms instead of listening to noisy extractor fans!! The room we eventually had was lovely, beautifully decorated and a good nights sleep. The food in the resturant was lovely; its just that there's something lacking in the service - a vague pointing at the stairs from the receptionist, staff chatting between themselves, waiting for bar staff to get a drink, only 1 breakfast waitress so empty juices, no glasses and food not cooked as ordered. I expected more - wouldn't go back.
