We stayed 3 nights in this hotel on a visit to Chester. It proved to be an ideal base as only a short walk down into Chester Centre. The hotel is laid back with helpful , friendly staff. The layout is not the best but it makes up for it with comfortable furnishings throughout. Our room had good decor and modern shower/toilet area. The bed was confortable and we had excellent sleep each night.Breakfast was good and choice excellent. There is internet access in the lounge area.
We enjoyed late night drinks each evening which is reasonably priced.Staff do everything possible to facilitate an enjoyable stay.Taxis provided with free call by hotel.I would have no hesitation in recommending this to visitors who are looking for nothing else than a quiet comfortable no frills stay.

Room Tip: no lift so choose a ground floor if difficulty carrying cases up stairs etc

We (my husband and I) stayed at the Brookside Hotel for one night after the races. I had looked on the net for a travelodge/premier inn but came across the Brookside advertising a double room with Breakfast for £89 - great deal .However our 'double room' was so small they couldnt even fit the sink in the ensuite aka cupboard so it was strangely next to the wardrobe. The ensuite was so small you couldnt sit on the toilet and close the door without brusing your knees! The bed was not a standard double more 3/4 and very uncomfortable the wardrobe was only fit for your clothes to hang crease free if your aged 3-4 years. This room was not fit for purpose for two adults. On a plus side v friendly staff and close to city centre but dissapointed with the broom cupboard.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my husband and 1 year old son in August 2012. Lovely, friendly hotel. The staff were so all so great with my little boy and made us feel so welcome. Breakfast was fantastic and the food in the restaurant was good too. The room was ideal for what we needed and the staff couldnt do enough to make our stay special. The location was fine but it is a good 10 - 15 mins walk (with a pram!) Only one suggestion I would have is to maybe have some background music in the bar - as we were unable to go very far at night with the little one, we had a couple of drinks in the bar but there wasnt much atmosphere as it was just News channel on the TV. I understand that they have to try to suit everyone and there were a lot of older customers, but maybe some subtle background music would help to create a little bit of atmosphere. Thanks to all at the hotel and we are hoping to come back to stay next year.

Stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of August, chose this hotel as it has parking and states approx 8 min walk to the centre. The hotel is ok, room was dusty i don't think the radiators have been touched this year! Also had an iron mark in the middle of the carpet! The complimentary shower/shampoo were poor and a cheap sachet....very dissapointing as there is a Molton Brown outlet close by at Cheshire oaks this would add a little luxury and perhaps make up for some of the short comings. Breakfast was nice but the smallest orange juice glasses I think I have ever seen. Overall ok but don't think we will rush back.

Room Tip: rooms at the fromnt are on a main road but sunny

Stayed here for one night on the last bank holiday. We got a really friendly welcome, and all the information we required about Chester when we checked in. The room was spotless and the bed really comfy. Wifi signal was good and included in the price, the same can be said of breakfast. Would definately stay again when nearby. Nice to stay in a privately owned place with such high standards and a bit of personality !!! ...... only negative Carlsberg on draught ...... porbably the worst lager in the world (the brand not the pint in the hotel) !!,........ but they do have ice cold bottles of becks.
