This hotel is second to none myself and my two friends booked for one night so we could have a shopping day out in Chester, the hotel is just in a perfect position about 10 mins walk to the city centre. We stayed in a family room for three which was very spacious and very well presented and clean, the service from the hotel staff was excellent and very efficient and very friendly, while we were staying there we had the the problem of a flat tyre which again the hotel Manager and and Chef went above and beyond by first trying themselves to solve our problem and when they could not the chef then drove to the nearest Kiwk Fit so we could follow to make sure we did not get lost and make our situation worse.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

Don't expect the opulence and space of the Crown Plaza here; this is a smaller scale, bijou operation but with staff who still share the same personal touch. Although only me, I chose the £89 standard double room over a single, only because I do like a bit more space and on account of this being an older style building in which space is a premium. Reception and Breakfast staff were friendly, helpful, lively and attentive and the food good without being exceptional. I didn't make use of the professional-looking restaurant for evening dinner but the menu did promise well. For breakfast I'm a bit fussy when it comes to orange juice; you'll very rarely get proper freshly squeezed or 'not from concentrate' juice in many hotels and b&bs these days; this tends to be more expensive and an obvious cost saving for any hotel. For me its a measure of excellence. Coffee was a bit strong and bitter for my taste too and there weren't any citrous slices (oranges or grapefruit) which I do like to start with. But these are only minor distractions from a very pleasant one night stay-over.

Spent a great weekend in Chester staying here at the Brookside hotel. Warm friendly welcome, lovely facilities, great staff and all you could wish for. Staff cannot do enough for you making it such a good choice for your stay. Only a few minutes from the centre of Chester and very close to two railway stations taking you to Liverpool if you wish. We went to the main station where we purchased a "saveaway" ticket for £4-90. This gave us a return to Liverpool, the ferry from Liverpool to Birkenhead where we caught the train back and also free bus travel across the city. Amazing bargain....do not miss this. Get the ticket from the main Chester station at the ticket office, its not available from the machines there. So much to do in Chester with a fantastic choice of eating and real ale establishments if you like...."we do" !!. The rooms at the Brookside are spacious, nicely decorated with comfortable beds and nice shower/ bathroom.
Breakfast was well served with excellent quality produce. Very quiet at night and although we didn't eat there we did use the bar for the end of evening "nightcap" with our friends.
Will use this hotel again and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in this area. Big thank you to all of the staff, excellent.

My husband booked this hotel as a surprise for me for our Silver Wedding Anniversary, what a lovely surprise. The hotel is lovely very clean with helpful staff. The room was clean and with plenty of tea/coffee for our use, the bed was comfortable and had a really good nights sleep. The food was lovely with a good cooked breakfast in the morning. We had an evening meal on the Tuesday and we both opted for the roast dinner which was lamb and we weren't disappointed. All in all a great hotel to stay in whether you want to shop in Chester or tour around the area.

Booked for a romantic weekend in Chester with my partner, the hotel was lovely and had bags of character. Clean and well kept, also the dining area was lovely. The breakfast was all you could hope for and the staff were lovely and helpful. A 10 minute walk to the center of Chester was the only down point but at the price you really cannot complain. We intend to return for another stay at the Brookside.

After losing our room key at 12am & being locked out for an hour. . . the response we had from the hotel owner was shocking.

As two ladies in our forties, we don't take lightly to being spoken to like we were.

Sadly disappointed.

Location good, room also good, owner . . . not good!
