“Afternoon Tea”
Reviewed 31 October 2011

The service at the Grosvenor was impeccable. From the moment you set foot in the hotel, until you leave you are treated like royalty by all staff. It was a memorable afternoon for my husband and I which we will be repeating time and time again.

We have just spent 3 nights at the Grosvenor. Could not fault anything from the moment we walked into the loby to the moment we booked out.
Had read in reviews about the lack of tea/coffee facilities in the rooms. Only had to ask when booking and it was there waiting for us.
Al the staff were superb. The Hotel was kept beautifully clean and tidy and our room was spotless.
We had a room (by our choice) at the front of the hotel overlooking the main street of Chester over the main entrance. So pleased with our choice.
We did not have evening meals in the restaurant but breakfasts were excellent.
Thank you to all for making our stay so comfortable and enjoyable.

If you want quality service, attentive staff and a comfortable quality hotel, look no further. A choice of a Michelin star restaurant and a bistro.
We had the 8 course taster menu in the Simon Radley Michelin star restaurant (special occasion). Food was good, the only critisism was we felt a bit rushed. Having opted for the 9pm sitting and the Sommelier to serve the appropriate wine we felt there was little time between courses to appreciate the wine choice. On several occasions we had two wines on the go and the next course was arriving. We did feel rushed out, not to busy in the restaurant and we were one of only a few who were on the 9pm sitting. Shame really for the amount we paid. The staff and service, as you would expect, was very good.
Spa is small but nice- steam room, sauna, salt room and power shower as well as treatments. We had a massage and facial each, good value on one of their offers, A small but well equiped gym for basic users, a few wieghts, running machine, step machine and bike.
Not sure what views there are...our rooms (144, 160 and 162 I think) were first floor overlooking a roof...no view at all. At least they were quiet. Big comfortable beds and well stocked mini bar. Well decorated and clean and tidy. Shower over the bath, I would have preferred a seperate shower, but thats just a bit picky really.
Certainly would recommend the hotel and will go back.

As a liitle girl l remember saying to my Mummy on a shopping trip to Chester that one day I would stay in the The Grosvenor . The Grosvenor has for me always epitomised quality.
I kept that promise to myself and stayed there with my 19 year old daughter and 9 year old son this week for 2 nights in a Junior suite and it did not disappoint.
The hotel and all the staff were wonderful - the hotel receptionists, the waiting staff in the Brasserie, Pawel in room service and the fabulous doormen.
If you want to stay in a hotel which delivers a quality experience from start to finish, where you feel valued as a guest and a building which is stunning then this is it.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms that has recently been refurbished. Call the hotel directly and ask if ther...

this is a great place to stay, but not cheap. surely one of the great hotels of the UK. but the brasserie is entirely missable. food and staff were mediocre, and the evening atmosphere not as it should be. clearly needs a good shake-up.the most remarkable thing about this hotel was that it has surely the best croissants outside France. if ever I return to Chester it will be for the croisssants at breakfast at the Chester Grosvenor. small thing but this can differentiate between great places.

Every moment spent in this hotel was heavenly! The hotel is located in a great spot in the centre of Chester. The building is fabulous, so well presented. The staff were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make every guest feel special.
