“ALMOST THE FULL SERVICE!”
Reviewed 30 June 2012

Stayed here for three nights. Pleasant upgrade on arrival with change of room to third floor due to noisy ventilation fan noise. No hassle, very helpful reception staff, service with a smile!. Room excellent standard and this hotel is all about location location location. Regrettably the street view seating area has changed into a chocolate retail outlet so the novelty of having a quiet drink watching the crowds go by has been lost which is a real shame. Only area for improvement here is the need to provide some much needed training to restaurant staff. Lot of staff but very poorly orgonised, waiting for tea, waiting for toast, forgotten top up of coffee, not what you expect from an establishment which purports to be top notch. This is a shame because what brings the customer back is that attention to detail and making you think that you are the most important guest in the hotel, sadly this was not the case. Hopefully next time someone will have orgonised some sessions for the waitering staff on what quality service is all about!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on thirs floor if you do not want to be disturbed by ventilation fans to the rear.

Just returned from yet another fabulous stay at “Grosvenor”
To me the Chester Grosvenor sets the benchmark that all hotels in the region should aspire to achieve.
From arriving at the hotel with the valet service, informative check in, a spotlessly clean room, attentive service at the fabulous breakfast through to check out every aspect is a real treat and well worth the tariff.
A big thank you to all concerned, we had such a wonderful visit and can’t wait to return.

We stayed for one night for my birthday. I would have said this was and I repeat was a favourite hotel, but not this time.

We arrived before lunch and were shown to what can only be described as a dreary dull room. The receptionist in fairness could see our unhappiness and moved us to a street facing room. It was ok but just ok. The bathroom was small and as good as a premiere Inn! Not what one would expect! We did several times
make our dissapointment clear, but to no effect! We were advised the room would potentially be noisy but didn't expect to be woken up at 4:10 with alarms sounding. A very poor nights sleep!

We ate in the hotel in both resturants but were not over impressed. Dinner in the Simon Radliegh was poor ,saved by fantastic service.

Overall dissapointment and a feeling that we have been over charged and criticism ignored!

Great hotel, in a perfect location. We stayed here for our anniversary and as the restaurant was closed at the time of our visit we got an excellent deal.
Room and bathroom was great no complaints very comfy.

Very attentive staff, room was excellent, great location - would recommend. I forgot my US power adapter - one was brought up to the room in two minutes.

I organised a surprise meal here for my husband's 40th recently and it was amazing. Everything from the initial enquiries, the meal planning, special arrangements, room bookings through to the service on the actual night was absolutely spot on. I could not fault them at all.
I have a 3 year old and a 19 week old baby and trying to organise a surprise party whilst also looking after young children was pretty challenging but the events manager, Jo, was wonderful. Everything could be done via email which simplified things for me and nothing was too much trouble.
We stayed in the Presidential Suite, which was fabulous - 2 interconnecting rooms which was ideal for a family and everything was immaculate.
I told them we would be arriving at 3.30 and the porter was already waiting at the lift for us to take our bags to our room. As we walked up to the reception desk, the receptionist instantly knew who we were and took us up to our room to check us in. The attention to detail was very impressive because everything went so smoothly.
I would give praise in particular to Jo, the events manger, and Craig, who looked after us on the night of the meal - both were incredibly professional and helpful.
If I had to pick out one thing to nitpick over, it would be that there was no tea or coffee making facilities in the room so we had to order this from room service, which was expensive - £25 for 4 teas! But given that everything else was so perfect, I could overlook that minor detail.
We have stayed in several 5 star hotels but I would say this was the best so far. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to go somewhere for a special occasion. It's certainly not cheap but you get what you pay for and you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: The presidential suite has interconnecting rooms which are ideal for families with 2 or more childre...

Lovely, lovely hotel tucked away in Chester city centre, a true 5 star classic where nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The room (324) was lovely, in the new part of the hotel, spacious, MASSIVE bed, lovely furnishings, Bose iPod Player, Lowe TV...all the best stuff here!

We had Champagne Afternoon tea which was great, we ate in the Simon Radley restaurant, see seperate review...certainly an experience we'll never forget!

Breakfasts are served in the lovely brasserie, and were great. Staff always on hand to help, room service was fast.

My girlfriend used the spa twice for treatments and said they were superb.

I highly recommend the hotel and we'll definitely be back!

Room Tip: 324 is a nice one!
