“Excellent hotel, great location wonderful service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 March 2014

My wife and I spent a wonderful night at the Chester Grosvenor. Although it is quite a large hotel it did not feel corporate and the friendliness of the staff made us feel very welcome. The decor is Art Deco and is a very standard standard throughout the hotel. We had continental breakfast in the Brasserie which was excellent. A choice of toast, cereal, porridge, fruit salads and pastries. I see other contributors have complained about the £7.50 supplement for Full English. I was aware of this and was more than happy with my continental breakfast so this was not an issue! The only slight disappointment was the Spa. At £35 per room per stay, it is expensive for a very nice but small sauna, steam room, salt room and relaxation room. The hotel is in a great location and I will definitely return.

We spent the night of 10 March 2014 at the Grosvenor. Having arrived after a long drive and in short of time to attend a funeral at the Chester Cathedral, our car was whisked away and valet parked and out luggage taken to our room before the normal checking in time of 2pm. We had requested that a room be available should we wish to change as the funeral was at 1.45pm. However the staff had prepared our room and everything was ready for us. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived and the room was beautiful, clean and well furnished. At dinner that night we were extremely well looked after and the staff could not have been more knowledgeable or helpful. The food in the Bistro was excellent and a good menu. A very big thank you to all.

My wife and I spent one night there for dinner, bed and breakfast as it was my wife's Birthday. We booked through Secret Escapes. Everything was perfect. It is the number 1hotel in Chester. On arrival the top-hatted doorman helped with our luggage and we were booked in by a very friendly lady. In fact we found that the plentiful staff were all very pleasant. the room was lovely with an eight foot bed!! Two armchairs, bathrobes and even an umbrella for any shopping!

Dinner was excellent. We had fillet steaks, all perfect. I can really recommend this hotel as long as you forget about the cost which is very high indeed. Worth it for a special occasion if you can book through a discount company such as Secret Escapes.

Very nice hotel, superior room was very good, but they are a bit greedy - no tea tray in the room and nearly £5 a cup if you order room service (and no biscuits!). Half a bottle of Champagne cost £39.Full English breakfast is a supplement and a further supplement if you fancy a kipper!. Breakfast took about 40 mins to arrive and the order was wrong when it did - net result we didnt have to pay the supplement, which was a minor consolation.
We had a room overlooking the main road - a disaster on Sat night. Unfortunately Chester is a youngsters drinking town and they were shouting/singing/fighting through to the early hours (3.30 a.m.).
Otherwise a very smart hotel in the centre of Chester

Room Tip: If you go oat the weekend do not have a room overlooking the main road.!

We visited for a light lunch and were very impressed. I particularly approved of the automatic door ie doors opened by two men. The service was excellent and the food was beautiful as to be expected. A great treat as it was a little bit expensive.

A central Hotel that is easy to find and a shopping center car park undercover next to hotel.

The service in all part of the hotel was of an excellent standard, nothing was too much trouble.
The cocktails were excellent and the choice of wines was tremendous.

This is a lovely location for a wedding reception, the rooms were spacious and well appointed, the food was good apart from a rather peculiar 36hr beef dish which actually was inedible, however there was plenty of other food to sustain every one. Obviously on the top end and knows it, however it was a very good Reception, although we did not get to have any cake as we left at 10.30pm..The main thing was that the Bride and Groom were well looked after.

Room Tip: They are all expensive, but its what you would expect at this level.
