“Nice hotel - slow restaurant service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 December 2013

The Premier Queen is an ideally located hotel for a visit to Chester being opposite the station and only a 10 minute walk into the city.
We stayed in the newer 'Kings' section of the hotel and our room was modern, clean and bright with all the usual amenities. We had booked a package that included champagne and chocolates on arrival and were MORE than impressed to find them in our room on both days of our stay.
The only thing that lets this hotel down slightly is the slow service and limited menu choice in the restaurant. We had booked a table and despite being down in good time were kept waiting for over 30 minutes before being shown to our table, and this despite the place not being full. The slow service continued throughout the meal - we like to take our time but even we found the time taken to serve us excessive. The food when it came was good but the choice a little limited if you are staying for more than one night.

We held our work party at the Queen last Saturday. We decided to stay over night too. Everything from start to finish was brilliant.
Check in to the room was swift and Emma the receptionist was great lovely and smiley and with lots of information about where to have a light snack and with a run down of the night. We opted for the hotel bar the menu choice was great and the bar staff lovely and chatty. Everyone that we came across was lovely and nothing too much trouble.
I wasn't involved in the organisation of the party but have to say it was fantastic. The package is an all inclusive carvery so all your food and drinks are included all night even down to fish and chips on the way out. We were told to arrive from 7.30 for bucks fizz and canapés and then carvery, there was so much choice and all the food was lovely and tasty. Party was top notch we danced all night and although there must have been 350 people in the room the queue at the bar was never longer than a couple of minutes.
Breakfast the next morning was lovely, staff great and there was even live music from a young guy on a keyboard. Bucks fizz was on offer but I swerved that…. too much the night before.
Everything great and would definitely recommend to friends and family for stop over of party night. The gardens looked beautiful too and apparently they have a licence to hold weddings in.

What a wonderful and interesting hotel this turned out to be! Having booked the Queen Hotel for our Christmas party we decided to push the boat out and stay the night. We arrived to a warm and friendly greeting and in no matter of time we came to our room. The room was gorgeous with the most comfortable of beds! All my colleges loved the Christmas party, and we couldn’t of asked for any more. The food was delicious and the drinks kept on flowing, I would recommend it to anyone. Above all this, the hotels biggest assets are the staff, they where so polite and friendly, it would seem that nothing was too much trouble for them at all!

Booked the Queens for a girly shopping trip and we couldn't have asked for a better hotel.
Great central location, opposite the train station with only a 10 minute walk to the centre for some quality shopping.

On arrival we were greeted by efficient, friendly and helpful reception staff. We were too early for our rooms but not a problem, we could leave our cases with reception and head out shopping!

Once we returned, we were guided to our rooms by the concierge who was more than happy to help with our bags and to fill us in on the hotel. Our rooms were in the kings quarter, the new development of the hotel. They were beautiful, all individually decorated with a different king for each room. We all said they have got to be one of the nicest rooms we've ever had at a hotel, spotlessly clean with all the amenities you could need, even an iPod Dock! The bathroom was enormous, and the beds were very comfortable and much needed after a long day shopping!

On arrival to the breakfast room we were greeted by bucks fizz which was a lovely little treat. Again the breakfast was beautiful with everything you could want and more. One of our party asked for a friend egg to be cooked through' and this was no trouble at all.

So yes, we had a great weekend and throughly enjoyed our stay at the Queens, from the manager to house keeping the staff were top notch and couldn't have been friendlier. We look forward to returning again soon!

Having recently stayed at this hotel I struggle to appreciate some of the views in the previous negative comments. The staff on reception were very attentive and polite (even advised cheaper parking and provided a toothbrush for one member of our party who had forgot theirs - lovely touch).we were initially given a voucher for a free drink of our choice and directed to our room. The room, like the entire hotel has a very grandeur theme - perhaps going too far with the royal ness in some aspects, but it was clean, modern and overall tastefully decorated. The meal in their kings restaurant was lovely, with exquisite food and great service! The breakfast was also highly satisfactory, the chef freshly prepares omelettes or poached eggs to go with the buffet style breakfast, however I personally would have preferred not to have to make my own toast. The hotel is in a great situation, directly opposite the train station however it isn't a particularly busy road and it really isn't that noisy considering the location. Our only slight problem was noisy guests in the corridor in the morning and a que to check out - but this was hardly a major issue nor the hotels fault.

Overall I would certainly return to this hotel, particularly for the food!

My wife and I stayed here on Saturday 14/12/2013, on arrival we used our best western loyalty card to obtain a free room upgrade,(subject to availability). The room was lovely but the bathroom was a let down and did not reflect the executive room status. The toilet is positioned directly under the sink making it very difficult to actually sit on the toilet. The hotel it's self was beautiful and the staff are very welcoming. The breakfast was a real treat with guests being offered a free Buck's Fizz and for breakfast it's self excellent. Would stay here again if the bathroom facility's were in keeping for an executive room.

We have just had our works Xmas party at the Queen hotel in Chester for the second year running. My booking for 100 staff couldn't have run any smoother, organised superbly and catered for everyone comfortably. Staff helpful and plentiful, food delicious, inclusive bar perfect and entertainment spot on for the evening. Special thank you to Sarah H - highly recommend and will definitely book again. Thanks again!
