“Faultless Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2014

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights as a short break. I cannot fault the staff within the hotel, always very polite. The hotel has undergone a major refurbishment in the reception area and it really does have a nice feeling on entering the hotel. It certainly seems that all staff are very proud of their working environment. The hotel room was very quiet and had opening windows allowing for natural air into the room. Another great amenity which should be pointed is that the hotel provides free to air TV which does not have the restrictions of traditional 'hotel TV". I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to explore the lovely City of Chester. Excellent location directly opposite the train station. Also opposite the hotel you can jump on the city tour which will take you into town. There is also a service bus which can take you into town or a leisurely 5 minute walk will see you in the city centre.

Stayed for 3 nights with friends for weekend city break. Hotel is ideally located, right opposite the mainline station and a short walk from the canals and city centre. The ambience and luxury of this hotel is simply wonderful - seeped in history, the corridors, lounges and stairways are full of ancient paintings, artefacts, unusual furniture and statues. I noticed something different to read or observe every time I walked past. The bedrooms are all named after kings, queens and historical figures. Ours was very clean and appeared freshly decorated with an immaculate bathroom, although the bedroom was just under the average size (206) there were complimentary robes and slippers, and it was adequate for our needs. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice for the healthy or the indulgent with good service. Staff very helpful and courteous and gave good tips for city's attractions. Would definitely recommend and I wouldn't hesitate to use this hotel if I visit Chester again in the future!

Stayed for 2 nights and would definitely stay again. we had a four poster room (233) that I think King Edward VII stayed in. We had a fab meal at Kings Grill on first night. Breakfast is a buffet but very good. Only one complaint was the whirlpool bath in our bathroom didn't work. We had a wonderful time and would recommend it.

VERY interesting history to this hotel from the people who've stayed within its walls in the past. High ceiling rooms, very antique, clean and comfortable. Spacious and quiet. Very good food in the restaurant both for dinner and breakfast.

Staged for 2 nights. We were in the kings quarter. Staff excellent, as was the breakfast. Room was amazing, very lush, clean and cosy. Cant wait to go back soon with friends for my birthday. Chester is a great place to visit with lots of great bars

Room Tip: Book the kings quarters.

Ok so here goes , I have stayed at some major hotels in Europe and the states , not all 5 star, some great , some not ! However I must say the rooms are small , clean and reasonable for comfort, now the rub !! Drinks at £4.50 a cider , burger at the bar £12 !! Buffet saw red blood in the chicken :( oh and £15 to park overnight ( even the Hilton lets you park for free if your a resident) all in all not worth the money - and it's a tad tacky esp the queen head as you head upstairs - will not return ever
