What more can be said. Thank you.
Me and my husband decided to stay here on a friends recomendation and I am so glad that she recomended it we had a lovely time. The hotel is gorgeous. We arrived to a warm cookie each which was a ncie touch. We had the standard room but the bed was huge and so comfortable. Bathroom very clean and modern with huge bath towels. The weather was lovely during our stay so we really enjoyed being able to have a drink outside on the lovely comfortable chairs. The spa was fantastic we went the day of staying and the morning of departing to enjoy the pool jacuzzis sauna etc was fantastic. There was a man on reception on Sunday 27th unfortunatly we did not catch his name but he came up to our room with an anniversart cake which we thought was a very nice thing to do and he also rang us a taxi later on as we decided to eat in chester town centre, he was extremely friendly and pleasent to chat to a credit to the hotel. Can't wait to stay again!
Great to hear you had a fabulous time and glad you managed to take some time out in the pools and relaxation areas. I will be sure to pass on your comments to Mark on the Front Desk, which i am sure he will appreciate.
Stayed here for 2 nights on Sunday 20th May for our 1st wedding anniversary and possibly our last break away before our 1st baby is born in September, We had been to Chester before and I spent a while researching hotels in the area and liked the look of the Doubletree - couldn't have found anywhere better!!
Our room (20 - Fairfax Suite) was on the ground floor and had a spacious lounge area with a big sofa, a HUGE bed, lovely big dressing table and plenty of mirrors (must have been designed by a female!!) a TV in between the bedroom & living area which swivelled round depending on where you were. There was a lovely bathroom with shower over bath, then a seperate wet room off the living area. A nice size fridge under the dressing table with 2 bottles of water in each day and big enough to bring your own wine or drinks. Room was very clean and had everything you needed. The only negative remark i'd make was the lack of plug sockets, could've done with one near the bed and maybe another one near the dressing table, but this was nothing!
Breakfast was fab, a huge range of continental/cereals/juices and full english options, all hot, fresh and replenished often, never had to wait for anything to be filled. Tea/coffee is out of machines which you help yourself to, not everyone's cup of tea (excuse the pun) as some like it served to then but for us it was nice to just help yourself to as much as you want! Staff very friendly and attentive.
We had dinner in Marco Pierre White's on our anniversary (Monday 21st) and we booked a table for 6.30. If you order before 6.45 from the a la carte menu you receive a 25% discount! Not to be sniffed at when ordering main courses at around £25 each. Food was gorgeous, steaks cooked beautifully, starters lovely and desserts to die for. Was fairly quiet at that time on a Monday and we had a lovely table next to the window. Staff were great yet again, very attentive and friendly.
Spa was great. Pool was large and very clean, the hot pool was particularly lovely which went outside to a small open air pool which was lovely. I'm 6 months pregnant so couldnt experience the sauna and other rooms next to the pool but my husband said they were all good and very clean. Again staff were fab here and explained how everything worked and where to go when we checked in.
Location of the hotel is great, we love shopping at Cheshire Oaks which is a great outlet village and is only about 4/5 miles from the hotel and then Chester City in the other direction which is about 3 miles away.
We got back from the spa on Monday afternoon to find a lovely cake in our room for our anniversary which was a nice touch.
Oh and that warm chocolate cookie you get when you check in?? Worth staying just for that!!
What a fantastic review detailing all departments in our Hotel.
We are continually praised for the services and facilities we offer our guests, so it is pleasing to see you experienced this.
We thank you for such brilliant feedback and hope you come again soon.
Stayed here for 3 nights Sunday 20th May - Wednesday 23rd May. I am a Hilton Honors Gold member so was upgraded to a suite which was very comfortable. We ate in the Brasserie on Sunday and Monday night. The meal on Sunday was excellent. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the vegetable lasagne. We reversed the order on Monday night and can only assume there was a different chef on that night as the meal was very poor.
We ate in the Marco Pierre White restaurant on Tuesday night and it was excellent. The bill was only £15 more than eating in the Brasserie for vastly superior food and ambience and we wished we had eaten in there on the Monday night as well.
The weather was excellent during our stay but there really was no need to keep the Brasserie quite so cold during breakfast and dinner. There was a constant cold draft from the air conditioning.
The Brasserie staff could have been a lot quicker in clearing dirty crockery away once people had finished breakfast and left their table.
Overall we had a very pleasant stay and have no hesitation in recommending the hotel.
Great overall review, thank you.
Apologies for the couple of issues you mention. We appreciate all feedback and will ensure they are passed on to the relevant departments.
It is great that you enjoyed dining with us, in particular Marco Pierre White’s restaurant.
We hope as a valued Hilton Honors member you return to stay, and as a team we are able to exceed your expectations.
I stayed at the Doubletree with 3 friends for a spa day and overnight stay. The hotel is a mixture of old and new buildings but has a very contemporary feel. All the common areas are light and there are lovely outdoor patio areas. Although there were 3 weddings at the hotel on the day we arrived, it didn't feel crowded and the staff were excellent. The rooms (standard twin with shower) were great - we liked the fact that there were no mini bars but a large empty fridge, so we could chill our own drinks. Again the rooms were contemporary, comfortable and had everything we needed.
I have stayed in many spa hotels and Spas and the Doubletree didn't disappoint. The treatment rooms, pool area and changing room were excellent. The relaxation room is probably the best I have seen! With huge beanbags and amazing water/light feature.
However, although I did enjoy my treatment, as did my friends, we all felt that they were overpriced and too short compared to past experience elsewhere. We also didn't like the way the therapists tried to sell you products before you left the treatment rooms.
The treatment rooms were a little bit chilly for my liking and the water in the showers both in the spa and the bedrooms could also have been hotter.
All in all the hotel and spa are excellent but the treatments let it down.
It is great to see you enjoyed your stay and whilst here were able to make use of the facilities.
I will pass on your comments regarding your spa treatment and ensure this is followed up.
We hope you decide to stay again.
We had a great day at the Spa on Saturday 19 May 2012, though oddly the reason I felt I had to write this review was because of their amazing response to a booking error they had made. We were a party of 5 and they had only booked 4 treatments in. While reception were really not very helpful at all, simply saying "we're fully booked" even when we explained we had travelled from London for the day, one of the management, Becky, went well beyond the call of duty and our expectations to make up for the error. We all had a brilliant day and were very grateful to her for sorting it all out. Mistakes happen everywhere sometimes - what was brilliant about our experience was how much effort she went to to make sure it didn't affect our day. Thanks, Becky! (And the spa as a whole is fantastic, by the way - thoroughly recommend it!)
Thank you for your feedback.
Becky will be delighted to read your comments and hear how pleased you were leaving us after your spa day.
We hope you and your friends come and visit again.
