This is our second visit to a Double Tree and weren't disappointed. Located about five mins drive from the City centre it is situated on a main bus route, and there is a bus stop at the entrance to the hotel. Taxi costs £5. The building and grounds are traditional but contemporary and visually pleasing. There is also seating in the walled garden. Free parking. Rooms are spacious, modern and clean and the staff are all very pleasant. There was acoustic live music n the bar area in the evening on our visit. Would be pleased to return

Enjoyed our stay as a couple, and the spa was a nice surprise. We had to go to the nearby Cheshire Oaks outlet village to buy some swimwear! Room was clean, average size and decor ok, with a comfortable bed. Breakfast like the Hilton food we are used to. Nice Marco Pierre White resturant with reasonable prices. Short drive into Chester - park and ride is a good idea as parking is hard to find and pricey. Bad point - our room was double booked so someone came in our room thinking it was their's!

Room Tip: Ask if there is a wedding on to make sure you can book a quiet room.

I stayed in the hotel from Sunday to Friday, in a suite (room 228) which looked great and had all modern commodities.
I used the Spa for 4 treatments, and they were great esp. the half hour facial which was amazing.
The MPW restaurant is top quality, both food and service are great.
I have some issues with the place however. It wasn't as clean as it could be, there were hairs around the room. Also, they weren't entirely honest about a couple of things: the sheets were not changed during my stay, although they say they change them every 3 days (I could tell from my long hair on the pillows) and the products in the bathroom are not Neutrogena as advertised on the website but Crabtree & Evelyn (which is fine, but the website should be updated).
Also, I wasn't keen on the breakfast buffet at all - the coffee from the automatic machines is not nice at all, and the so-called croissants are not good and dry. The OJ tastes like a supermarket's own brand. My husband said the cooked breakfast was good but nothing special (cheap sausages). A bit more effort could be made in this area for a 4 star hotel...

Stayed here for one night as a treat for me and my partner! Chose Chester as I know the city well! The hotel was great, set in lovely grounds and not far from the city centre! Room was ready 2 hours early and we received a cookie on arrival which was a nice touch! The room was small but nice, a huge bed took up most of it! Tho was amazing! Th bathroom was great! There was everything you could need in the room and if not the reception or care line would arrange it for us! Iron, board, hair dryer, towels, fridge, iPod speakers, flat screen 32" tv and remote etc! Used the spa twice as it was included in the room price! Really fab facilities!! Pool, jacuzzi, outdoor jacuzzi, sauna, steam, hammam and Turkish steam! All great after a days walking around or a night out! Would also like to recommend hickories on the river! American restaurant! Amazing food! Stupid priced cocktails tho! Had a great time in Chester because of this hotel! Booked through trivago! £60 for the night, the room rate at the hotel for this was £196! So book online! Shop around!!

My boyfriend and i booked here on laterooms.com about 8weeks ago and i read some negative reviews which worried me, but as soon as i got there my worries went away. The hotel is beautiful, grounds fantastic, staff where excellent, we arrived early they allowed us to check in as our room was ready, and we received some yummy cookies- only thing negative thing i would say as the cookies had nuts in my boyfriend couldn't eat these-maybe a plain chocolate cookie for people with nut allergy's would be better! We went to room to find we had been upgraded to a suite- lovely surprise , immaculate ,very clean fabulous lay out, very luxurious! Staff where very friendly sorted us zoo ticket out- much cheaper than paying at the door, booked us into the brasserie for dinner which was fantastic! some of the best food ever eaten!so good we booked in for the second night which was just as good if not better!Spa facilities are lovely , thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the outdoor jacuzzi/ hot tub in the evening! Just simply fantastic, we only got back today 22/8 and am already wanting to plan going back for our anniversary in Novemeber!

Stayed for 2 nights on business. Hotel modern & clean. Needs a little tlc in some areas ; air con in room not great, carpets in corridors tatty, patio areas outside reception needs work. Would stay again though. Breakfast fine but certainly not great. Only white sliced bread on morning 2. Did however offer choice of eggs. Nice large flat screen TV in room.
