Arrived late after carfest .. Lovely welcome from reception guy. Went into bar at 10.35 & very disappointed with lack of attention, we had to ask the girl cleaning the coffee machine if there were any bar staff on! Lots of empty glasses on tables everywhere & no attempts being made to clear . Other gripe is the location of plug sockets in the room as I'm not good at crawling under desks! Why aren't they above or at side of bed?! HOWEVER .... Great sleep in very comfy bed, fabulous bathroom & shower was great too . Breakfast, despite being very busy, was fabulous. Good quality bacon, mushrooms etc. Would def stay again if we get next years carfest tickets again!

I'm a really big fan of The Double Tree at Chester, it's a great place to meet with my Cheshire girlfriends, now we are so spread across the country. I stayed there recently to celebrate my friends 50th birthday and thought that the service overall was really pretty poor. The lunchtime service was prompt enough, but not served with a smile or any polite notes and breakfast was a huge disappointment, the food lacked simple taste and the presentation of the food was lacking too. This wouldn't put me off going back, because on previous visit everything has been very good, maybe you were having an off day, it was incredibly busy.

(see separate review on Marco Pierre White steak house, which is not good and overpriced)
Impressive look on arrival, (car park very busy and almost full, did wonder what they would do if a guest could not park!) reception as you would expect from Hilton Doubletree and the room was well appointed and clean
lovely open areas to sit outside the smart bar. Breakfasts up to Doubletree standard.
The spa is great and a great bonus whilst staying here. The outside area in the Hydro area is a surprise.
Thoroughly recommend for stays not just Chester but the surrounding areas too as the roads links are good

Room Tip: We had a Ground floor room, set onto the Garden, couldn't hear anything !

Stayed here for one night for work. The hotel is in a quiet spot and its public areas are nice and feel classy. My room was comfortable, with good, quiet air con and a nice bed. I didn't eat there in the evening. The cooked food on the breakfast buffet was a good choice, but it was a bit dried out. It's about a 10 minute drive to the city centre. I was pleased with what I got for the price.

I recently attended a function at this hotel and to be blunt, the food served was an absolute disgrace.

We were charged £22 for a burger that the vans outside of football grounds would have been ashmaed of, a hot dog that was blander than a politician's response to a direct question, both served on buns that were far from fresh, a potoato salad that was ashamed to have that name and a sweet that was a cupcake in disguise. The only good ite, the mozarella in a pesto dressing, ran out well before all guests were served.

No salad and the supposedly 'rustic' bread that was far from that.

This £22 was for a buffet meal, not even one that was served at table.

The organiser had specifically asked for the initial menu sent to her to be improved upon but her request was completely ignored.

Needless to say, this hotel has now lost any future bookings from our large group (over 500 members) and I personally will not set foot over the threshold.

Disgrace is too meek a word.
