Overall the hotel was reasonable,The food was good but at breakfast the cooked meal was brought before we had finished our cereal so it was cold before we got too it, And the female restaurant staff were unpleasant especially one off them but we did not get her name.Leaves a lot to be desired for a four star. We stayed for 2 nights 28th - 30th May - we arrived in Chester by Train - it's about a 10 minute walk to the hotel which was no too bad.

We couldn't check-in on arrival at 10:45 - our room wouldn't be ready until 2pm. This was no problem as our luggage was kept safe behind reception so we could go off to get some breakfast & explore the city. We can recommend the restaurant in the BHS store along the road - 10 item breakfast was £3.95.

We returned to the hotel about 3pm & check-in was pretty quick - we had booked & prepaid via Superbreak.com. We had room 107 - It had a huge bed which turned out to be 2 beds pushed together which is not my favourite bed scenario but everything else looked OK so we stuck with it.
The wardrobe contained an Iron & Ironing board and a pedestal fan for when it gets warm - not needed on our visit! The room also contained a hair drier.

The central heating did not function during our stay - I guess it must be summer although it was cold & wet.

The bathroom was quite narrow but I guess there's only so much you can do to a listed building. A single bed was also in the small annexe to the main room - I guess it was some sort of family room. The TV was analogue receiving hotel generated channels - poor picture quality & no news channels except Russia Today.

Breakfast was part of the package - buffet style for cereals, fruit & yoghurt etc - for cooked breakfast & eggs etc the waiting staff will take your order. Service was a little slow one day but OK the next. Breakfast was a good experience.

This hotel has a great location for a city visit - we enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms near the night club.

We stayed in the Blossom for 4 days as a short may bank holiday break. We got a great rate by booking early and had room 215. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and helped us with our bags great hospitality.

The location was great literally about 5 mins to a large number of bars and restaurants most notably the hickory smokehouse also close to the bus station with buses going directly to chester zoo and Cheshire oaks a massive shopping and food complex.

My only complaint was the inconsistency of breakfast although prompt and tasty the cooking standard varied hugely day to day with eggs undercooked some days and overcooked on others. Same case for black pudding and fried mushroom and tomatoes.

Chester itself is a beautiful and welcoming city will be back soon!

Room Tip: Request room to the rear ensure you close the noise cancelling glass at night to prevent high street noise

We stayed here during bank holiday and it was roasting! Not complaining about that.
The rooms dont have any aircon but you can find a small fan in the wardrobe. The windows only open slightly - for safety reasons of course. It meant we were roasting during the night.

The room we were in 221 was tiny and trying to get in and out of the shower/bath was really difficult,. I ended up standing on the toilet with the lid down.

The bed was incredibly unconfortable. I didnt sleep much that night.

The best bit are the staff. 100% brilliant. The lady that served us got out a map and showed us where to eat and drink and gave us a big long list of places to go.

On a whole though dont bother going to chester if you can get away with it. There isnt much to do.

Excellent hotel. We stayed here as we were going to Chester Races which was only a ten minute walk away from this hotel. If you are visiting Chester for shopping, nightlife or general tourist attractions this hotel is perfectly placed for your stay. We had a deluxe room as all other rooms had been taken, great room, huge bed and lovely and clean. Shower was slightly disappointing but this is my only gripe. No car park with this hotel but the shopping centre carpark is only round the corner & charge £10 for 24 hrs. Would highly recommend this hotel & will definitely return here if visiting Chester in the future
