We stayed one night to enjoy shopping in Chester. The first room we were shown had crisps on the floor and smelt. We complained and then were moved to a room with a broken tv. The next room was ok, the sparkling water was flat though. When we checked out the lady at the front desk asked us if we had a good stay, when we explained what had happened she was completely uninterested. For the money we paid the stay was very disappointing.

Dear Jianghuang

Thank you for reviewing the Macdonald New Blossoms Hotel. I have noticed thay you stayed during March 2013, since that time there have been many exciting changes one of which is a new TV system supporting all the channels you would expect along with new LED televsion sets, complimentary WiFi along with various improvements within the rooms and restaurant.

I would like to apologise for the issues within the room and I am once again delighted to mention that we started in may an internal redecoration programme to upgrade all of our bedrooms.

Please contact me directly if you would like to discuss the matter further.

Kind regards

Stayed for one night in November 2013 for some Christmas shopping in the city. We have stayed here before the hotel was refurbished so thought we would give it another try as compared to many of the other hotels in the centre offered reasonable value for money. We had read the reviews and noted the comments about street noise, we asked for a quiet room when we booked and were given a room towards the rear of the hotel and it was really quiet. Our room was small but perfectly adequate, very clean with a tiny bathroom. Good shower though and fine for one night. Bottled water and complementary chocolates were a nice touch. The room was very warm however this was our own fault as we realised the next morning we could have opened the window! Check in was fine and all of the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Breakfast on Sunday was a bit hit and miss. We served ourselves from the buffet with cereal etc however cooked breakfast was ordered from the waiter. Although there seemed to be plenty of staff they didn't seem particularly well organised in what they were doing and kept taking the wrong orders, teas coffees etc to the wrong table. Some guests sent food back as was cold, ours was however fine when it arrived although it was a bit of a wait and cold toast. Had dinner at Piccolino on Saturday which was very nice and good service despite being really busy with early Christmas parties. All in all would stay again at the Blossoms due to the excellent location and based on this visit if the price was reasonable poor score for service reflects breakfast only everything else fine.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room at the rear of the hotel to avoid street noise

Stayed here for 1 night (6th December) and found the hotel to be very good. As expected there was a Christmas party taking place at the hotel however the noise left a lot to be desired! I'm not sure if there were rooms available away from the noise if there are I think the hotel should take this into consideration when allocating rooms to guests! Our room was right over the entrance which added to the noise factor too. Having said that the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were as expected for a standard room. The food in the hotel restaurant was very nice and the small problem we encountered was dealt with very quickly by the manager. As I've stated in the title you couldn't wish for a better location and you get a small discount when parking in the Grosvenor Centre car park.

Room Tip: we were in room 113 which is right over the entrance and very noisy. My parents were in room 108 and...

The hotel is in the city centre and it has been reported be a little noisy. We stayed over a weekend and had a room at the front of the hotel, ok you did get some noise but nothing really intrusive.
We chose to travel by train rather than negotiate central Chester by car, it's only a 10 minute walk from the station and who needs a car in Chester?
Staff we very good, a special mention to the restaurant manager who was both pleasant and efficient. A tip regarding breakfast on Sunday morning, get down by 9.00am and the restaurant is less than half full so no issues regarding waiting time etc!
The hotel itself is located close to the Eastgate Clock & city walls.
For real ale lovers take the short walk to Lower Bridge Street and sample the Brewery Tap, Cross Keys and Bear & Billet...

Spent 28, 29 & 30 November here. Whilst the reception staff are excellent the hotel is tired and the restaurant lacks atmosphere. We were kept awake on all three nights by noisy people in the street leaving clubs and bars. Sunday morning breakfast certainly gave Fawlty Towers a run for its money! We had to queue for 20 mins despite tables being empty but not enough staff to clear them. Had to remind staff twice for tea and coffee and we were served our cooked breakfast whilst still eating our cereal! Everyone was experiencing the same which created the wrong atmosphere. Parking is a pain because you have to lug your suitcases through the shopping centre to access the car park. Not the experience I expected from a Macdonald Hotel.

Dear Sue F

I would like to thank you for taking the time to write a review following your recent stay at the Macdonald New Blossoms Hotel.

I would like to apologise for the breakfast experience on Sunday morning and would like to thank you for your compliment towards our staff, they were delighted to hear about it.

You are able to drop luggage off at the hotel upon arrival before parking your car which our staff will be happy to store or take to your room. I apologise if this was not made clear at booking stage. As with any city centre hotel there may be a degree of noise from people in the street however we have an excellent location to enjoy the delights of Chester.

I do hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to the Macdonald New Blossoms Hotel and should you wish to discuss your stay further please do not hesitate in contacting me.

Kind Regards

We stayed here for a couple of nights. Excellent location, although no on site parking only a few minutes walk from the multi-storey which as a hotel guest you get discount. Ask at reception. Hotel staff were very friendly, evening meal at the hotel was lovely. Couldn't fault the rooms, spacious although as in previous reviews I think depending on where you are in the hotel it can be noisy. We were towards the back and there was the groaning of a fan until about 10pm which started again early in the morning. Would stay here again.
