A brilliant city to go and see there is a map for £1.20 called walkabout it tells you everything about the city and walks from the principia or the roman headquarters , to 17century Dutch houses Tudor houses , old pubs , on and off the city walls to east gate clock (1899) then Stanley palace haunted by the grey lady ,then lovely walks along the river dee with river trips .back on to the walls again to the roman amphitheatre and the roman gardens and King Charles tower , plenty of cafés and places to eat will do this again but make a weekend of it to see and do more ....brilliant

We went on the red bus, CitySightSeeing and were pleasantly surprised. It rained most of the time but we sat upstairs in the covered area at the front, a very pleasant lady driver, with a recorded commentary which we thought was excellent. All just for us two. I think the weather had put people off as we were the only 2 on the bus the whole time!! The tour lasted an hour and we thought very good value for money at £8 pp for a 'Senior' ticket. Chester is beautiful and I can't wait to go back again as this was our first visit.

We visited Chester because we had not been for a while and we went on the city sightseeing bus.
There was a bus with a live guide and a bus with a recording.
Both were very good and gave you plenty of facts about Chester, however we prefered the bus with the live guide.
We also went on the boat on the River Dee which we paid a little extra for in our bus ticket. Again this was a recording giving very good information, but again do prefer live guides. This boat trip was ok and offered good views.
You can get a discount in certain places with your bus ticket, though we did not take advantage of this offer.
We both enjoyed our time in Chester on the bus and boat and think it is a very good price for a good day out in Chester.

Really enjoyed just sauntering through Chester City Centre, just browsing around the shops & taking in the lovely scenery & buildings. Only here for a short stay but would definitely return to visit other places in & around Chester, so much more to see.

Did this bus tour with a friend for a laugh - visit the city every few weeks or so for work but came for a day out around the pubs and decided we'd do the tourist thing. Despite having lived not too far away for many years, and being familiar with the city, I did learn a lot. It was fun to drive around on the top of a bus rather than in a car stuck in traffic and you do see a lot more than you imagine is there, and learn a lot about the history that you should know, but don't.
I would recommend it to tourists - but also to residents as it's not mega expensive. Good drop off at the river, and easy to get back on the bus when required... good pubs!
