We stayed in this hotel as part of a wedding party, the wedding was to be held elsewhere but many of the guests had chosen this hotel as it was near to our location. When we arrived the receptionist sounded dissapointed that more people were going to arrive! We were told where our room was, which was outside at the back of the hotel with a view of the very small car park. When we arrived in our room is was dark as the curtains were closed to hide the view! When we opened them and look at the bed I wanted to find another hotel, the sheets could only be described as dirty!! I asked for our sheets to be changed and new pillow cases as the spare ones had blood and saliva stains on them, the bathroom was old and very small and the carpet was stained. this Hotel in my opinion needs pulling down and building again!! The staff were rude and we had to move our car several times to accomodate other guests. I would never stay here again. RS Leicestershire

We have been coming to this Hotel for years on a regular basis for years and have always found the staff very friendly and helpful. (We have regulaily stayed in 4/5* hotels and the staff haven't been as friendly ). The rooms have individual character as it is a very old building. What do people expect for the price which includes breakfast and free parking WITHIN the city walls? The pizzeria at the basement serves lovely Italian food. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

We took the hotel as we did not want to search for a long time in Chester. Further, we stayed there during the Chester Race's and most of the Hotels and B&Bs were presumably fully booked anyway.
The positive thing about the hotel is that it is located in the centre of Chester in Lower Bridge Road. The receptionist was rather friendly at the check in and we were given a room at the car park area of the hotel. The room was small but ok-ish. The biggest problem was that the central heating was on. Although we reported this problem, nothing was changed - the lady at the reception told us that the heating was switched off and it could only be due to the hot water tube.
The bath room was filthy and so was the bath tub.
Breakfast was very poor for a hotel, the coffee undrinkable. The lady who servered breakfast was utterly unfriendly and had a very grumpy look.
We asked at the day of our arrival whether we could leave the car in the car park for a couple of hours on the following day of our departure which was granted by the receptionist. The next morning we were not allowed to leave the car there. Well ... across the river Dee there are some residential areas where one can park for free and using the bridges one has a pleasant walk of about 15 minutes to the centre.

Falwty Tower's is actually a good comparison for the this hotel ;-))

Apart from the complete lack of facitlies and general clenlianess that you would expect from a hotel that you are paying £75 a night for the attitude of the receptionist/staff is the worst that I have ever experienced from a hotel let alone in a general customer service point of view - am seriously shocked that this place is still going.

I stayed here with my partner as we where up from liverpool on a night out. We booked last minute and i mean last minute i was gettin ready at 7.30pm while he was boking it. We arrived to find the hotel car park at the back of the hotel and it was free which is a bonus in chester. We went to reception at was greated by a lady. We checked in and was given a key to room 19. This room was ok but not worth what we paid think it was about £60bb. The room was clean but the bathroom was tiny we didnt mind as it was only to stay in after out night out. We has a great night on the town to return to the hotel at 2.30pm and the door was locked. The nightporter let us in and was very poilte. We never got up for breakfast so never ate in the hotel. Overall the hotel and staff where ok but not worth the money we paid.
