Called in for lunch on a Satruday while shopping. On the upper floor of the Rows in a building with lots of character, (Plenty of steps to deter the buggy brigade :-)
Very friendly welcome. Order taken and food arrived very quickly. Menu was a selection of sandwiches, baked potatoes, salads etc also scones and cakes. Adequate and good value for a quick lunch in the city centre - far better than the surrounding chain coffee shops.

Set up on the rows so difficult to get to if you have mobility problems. The menu is of the soup and sandwich or lasagne and salad type. However salad is not just a bit of limp lettuce but couscous, pasta, olive salad etc . Cakes such as carrot cakes are enormous size.

The building is very old and the toilet is just off a little courtyard , it has always been clean when I've been but it is essentially an outside loo with the compromises that has.

Burlingtons is a great place to have lunch if you don't want to have the sameiness of eating in a big chain restaurant at a reasonable price, particularly if you go for the soup and sandwich deal (normally £4 ish) You can sit outside on the row and watch the world going past.

Really couldn't say anything positive about this experience, we noticed the A Frame advertising the "restaurant" and thought it would be fun to eat in one of Chester's famous rows.

How wrong we were! We sat outside so we could watch the shoppers below, were spoken rudley to by the staff when we went upto order, if it wasn't for the fact that i couldn't walk another step without sustinence we would of left then, but again rookie mistake on our part.

Very rude staff and customer service, including when they took the money. Food was poor and prepared with no care, but bill was substantial.

AVOID - AVOID - AVOID!

We used to love visiting Burlingtons for a toastie and soup but the last time I was horrified when I visited the toilets for the first time. If we hadn't ordered lunch I would have made a hasty exit. I am concerned that if that is the standard of hygiene then what are the kitchens like? Such a shame.
