Although the Cathedral is being renovated in parts and were out of bounds. What we did see was absolutely beautiful .

We visited Chester Cathedral on a bright, cold January day; it is a truly wonderful place. The history, the architecture, the ambiance is sublime; it is a wonderous place of worship. Even if you are not particularly religious, Chester Cathedral should be high on your bucket list of places to visit when you are in, or around, Chester. The stain glass windows are truly beautiful, and when the sunlight hits them, they absolutely come to life. We had hot drinks in the restaurant, which like the rest of the Cathedral, is magnificent. All-in-all, a fantastic building and grounds.

Absolutely stunning cathedral. Free entry although a minimal donation is requested. We did the tower tour, well worth the small fee. The guide took us back in time with the history that the cathedral had to offer. Lovely cafe & gift shop. Simply put... Perfect.

Beautiful building, fabulous tombs and the most amazing wooden carvings. Look for the imp and the master mason holding up the building.
Lovely coffee in the cafe and a great shop!

Brilliant historic place to visit. It's free to enter but you can make a donation to help with the upkeep. They had a fabulous Christmas tree display, with trees decorated by different businesses and schools. We took friends who were visiting from Leeds and our young children. Thoroughly enjoyable visit.
