we arrived Saturday night and were given a warm welcome. Our room was clean if a bit dated. The bed seemed new and was very comfortable. our room also had a single bed in it. The area was good near the railway station and would have been ideal for exploring Chetsre if we'd had the time. The breakfast was very good with lots of it on a help yourself buffet. The service was good and we met the owners who were very friendly. Would definitely return in the future.

Nice, clean. quiet room, good bed, working shower, TV with clear picture + many channels, wardrobe to put things in - surely at this price this is more than you can expect? I stayed in a single room, which many places don't even offer. I found the breakfast plentiful and the public spaces, including breakfast room, nice in quaintly dated way, but the breakfast was not very tasty even if the usual suspects were all there, cereals, sausage, eggs, bacon, etc. As it is buffet it is still not bad value for money either, I like the convenience of having breakfast at the hotel, but you could have breakfast elsewhere if you wanted to. It is also on offer btw 8 - 9.30 which is fairly early. Excellent location near station.

Room Tip: Room at the back was quiet and light.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and has an antique feel to it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and are what you are paying for. What more is great about this hotel is their breakfast service - Hot food served with warm attitude. In all, we had a pleasant stay there and would hope to visit again. Whenever we will be in chester next this would be our preference of hotel.

Room Tip: call in advance and tell them exactly what u need

The Belgrave Hotel is just fantastic value for money accommodation within the city walls of Chester; en suite room with free view TV, excellent host, a keenly priced bar and very clean and tidy. Yes the hotel is a little dated and tired in places but this is reflected in the price that you pay, in my case less than thirty pounds for a single occupancy.

One minute from the train station with its free bus into town, not that the centre if far only ten minutes walk.

Room Tip: Book early

On arrival we found no parking available, there is a drop off point but parking is at the local pub down the road at a cost but this seems to be the norm in chester even at the travel lodges. The outside was filthy and didn't resemble the photograph which would appear to have been taken a number of years ago. The sun blinds were torn and tatty. On entering the hotel it became clear that the hotel is dated and tired in its decor. The receptionist was very friendly and after sign in directed us to the room which was room 5. The room was cramped and again very dated with two single beds held together with double bedding and not much of that. My experience of this type of arrangement is that the bed will part at some time in the night. The bathroom whilst cleaned to the best of someones ability was again very shabby and dated to around the mid 70's and not very pleasant to use. Putting new white mastic doesn't constitute a refurbishment. The view out of the bedroom window, peering through the grubby net curtain was of urban decay (a building site) and whilst I don't expect to see herds of wilderbeest roaming across the plains I didn't expect that. my wife and I had to leave Chester in the late afternoon for a medical emergency at home with my wifes youngest daughter however we had already decided that we wouldn't be staying the night in that room even if it meant losing the £61.20 which we did
