“Friendly staff good room”
Reviewed 7 May 2012

We stayed for a total of four nights recently and were very satisfied. The room had a normal size double and two little beds for the children. Linen was fine and bed was comfortable. We were a long way from reception but preferred this as very little corridor noise. The staff were professional and friendly. The only problems we encountered were lack of heating in the bathrooms. They told us that all their heated towel rails were too hot so had been switched off. The room safe didn't work and needed resetting - this was done quickly.

The breakfast was very good, great choice and an excellent juicer. The sauna and pool were good too. You do need a car to be here but it's location is great for Chester and North Wales. I would very happily stay here again.

Room Tip: At the end of a corridor for less noise.

I stayed here for 18 days and was impressed with the patience of the staff (I was traveling with 28 teenagers), there level of service was impeccable, just one or two that were boardering on the rude and arrogant side. I wasn't going to let those two ladies get the better of me however and bring down my thoughts on the rest of the staff, who were wonderful on every level! Rooms were clean, food was pleasant and location was perfect for a large group of teenagers!

We had the misfortune to be given double rooms, not twin, as booked. ( too cosy for 'friends', thank you)
Unable to swop rooms as hotel full. Not interested, basically, no refund, take it or leave it!!!
No sound proofing, so ghastly hen party, and sounds from room above, were an added irritation-- we asked specifically for QUIET rooms.
Privilidge member ( holiday inn loyalty club,) told of benefits, ie reducion in price, after paying for food and drink-- sorry too late! although they were fast enough to add on the 10 % service charge.
Pool full of teenagers ( well behaved but no room to swim0
Basically avoid this one---sure there are better to be had around Chester!

Room Tip: unable to advise-- suggest try somewhere else.

This was a nicely run hotel close to the major roads in they area and a short drive form lovely Chester.

my wife and I enjoyed our two night stay. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Check in was smooth and speedy as was check out. The room was a goo size for a standard room with all the expected facilities. Although I would have liked a biscuit with my tea when I arrived. The bed was massive and comfy. the bathroom roomy with hot water in abundance thouth the shower controls were tricky if you have problems with hand strength or dexterity. We thought the wooden window sheeters weree a great idea blocking out the morning light and probably helping sound proofing. We slept well although the extraction in the bathroom did come on automatically and noisily around 6:30 in the morning.

I used the gym which was decently equiped and moderately used while I was there. The staff in the health club were helpful. There is a good sized pool which I didn't use. The changing rooms need a £1 for the locker ( Is uppose that is of but I would have obviously preferred a free locker - I wanted a swim after using the gym but would have had to have popped another £1 in to change into swim gear(). There were free towels, water and paper towels in the gym. The downside in the gym was I suppose not unusual smelly changing rooms.

We ate in the restaurant the first night and this was good in terms of food and service. My wife found the area a little cold (maybe the air con was too low). The breakfasts were very good.

Car parking was ample and the hotel was easy to find.

All in all a hotel I would visit again and recommend.

Stayed 13-15 April on weekend deal.
Have stayed at several Holiday Inns before but this was not a good visit. Unfortunately booked through an agent and they hadn't passed on that I wanted 2 twin rooms.Ended up with doubles and the hotel couldn't do anything as it was full. Not their fault. BUT, why, oh why when requesting quiet rooms were we put in the middle of a large hen party? We had to leave the bar area because of the noise they were making at 10pm but when they came back from town,we were all awake from 2-3 am with them slamming doors, laughing and shouting in the corridors and then in their rooms. Even outside (smoking?) at some points. The construction of the hotel is poor. We could hear every noise from upstairs room and the hens from next door sounded as if they were in the room with us!
Talking to an older couple at breakfast, they were in the middle of a large party of Australian teenagers, shouting to each other up and down the corridors. Again, why not block book them away from other guests?
Also, someone had had a pet in our room and vacuuming had not picked up the hair. I felt sneezy so someone with a pet allergy could be quite ill. Not very nice.
Plus side: the staff were very friendly and helpful. Convenience to Chester is very good. Take the bus from the Park & Ride - only £1.70 return. Taxi was only £5.50 from centre.
Would I stay again - NO! Would I stay at another Holiday Inn - maybe.

Room Tip: Your guess is as good as mine!

Visited over the Easter holidays and although the hotel was full, it never felt too crowded. We had an executive family room, all situated on the upper floor with no lift, although one is being added soon, with one double bed, one bed settee which was very hard and a foldaway, decent camp bed. The rooms were a good size with ample storage, a free safe, mini bar doubling up as a fridge (take your own supplies as the mini bar prices are very expensive) and a decent size bathroom with good shower. We did find a used elastoplast under an the bedside drawers so maybe there should be a little more care taken when cleaning. It was in full view as you used the drawers so would have been easily spotted if the cleaners had inspected their work after finishing the room. Overall the hotel is spotless though and this minor find did not reflect on any cleanliness factors of the hotel. The hotel is very spread out so if you have mobility problems, mention this when booking and they will try to accommodate you closer to the amenities. My son had a broken leg and they gave us the closest room they had, excellent customer service. Even in the restaurant for breakfast, we were shown to a table close to the buffet. Breakfast was good value, £9.95 per adult and kids eat free, if you purchase a voucher from the reception the night before. It was more expensive if you just turn up. We ate in the bar one night and again kids eat free, 3 courses if they want, as long as an adult main meal is purchased. The food was excellent and again good value. Please be aware that if you purchase drinks from the bar and the bar staff offer to carry them back to your table for you, you will be charged for this service. A bit of a scam as we did not actually have table service as we went to the bar to order our drinks! The hotel was located just off the A55 which was ideal for our visit to the zoo (purchase discounted tickets cheaper at the hotel and save queuing at the zoo). We also visited Cheshire Oaks which was easily found from the A55. A bus runs every ten minutes into Chester town centre from a stop opposite the hotel, £1.95 per adult, and we got a taxi back which was £8.00.
Overall, this is an excellent hotel, ideal when using a car to explore the local area, with plenty of free parking, good food, adequate rooms and extremely helpful staff who were always ready to serve you and exchange a few pleasantries. We will definitely book again if visiting the area in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to reception if you have any mobility problems.
