“Convenient location. Comfortable with very nice pool and Fitness suite”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 September 2013

Both the hotel and our room were decorated to a good standard. Bedroom and bed were clean and comfortable. The restaurant staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was included in our tariff, and was excellent with a wide choice. We thought that the dinner menu, although very well cooked and presented, was just a little expensive, A choice of a couple of more modest dishes would have been welcome. On arrival, I had to report to Reception the condition of the bathroom basin because in a number of places the plastic coating had blistered. We liked to room location so stayed, but we were nevertheless slightly surprised that the room had been allocated to guests. The pool and fitness suite were all clean and well maintained as were the changing rooms.
We were aware that parking in Chester is very limited and one of the factors that influenced our choice of hotel was because it was only about 10 minutes by frequent No 1 bus into Chester.
In summary the hotel was fine with good Leisure suite and ample parking; and a fast bus service into the centre of Chester. .

My opinion of the hotel is more or less the same as Stellis - typical corporate hotel. We wandered in through a wedding party -a lot of chain smokers including the bride. They were pretty well - behaved and I wish the couple a long and happy marriage. We were in an executive room a long way from the action. As we were meeting friends we did not have evening meals there. On the afternoon we arrived the bar staff were extremely busy coping with the wedding guests. No real ale on offer - no surprise but the only bottled beer was Newcastle Brown. A few beers such as Old Speckled Hen or Black Sheep would have been welcome.

Breakfast was OK. On the Sunday morning the detritus, left near the entrance by the smokers from the previous day, had not been cleaned up. Thus I can only give cleanliness an average score.

Room Tip: A long walk through corridors but if you choose an executive room you will not be troubled by noise...

Just come back from over night stay at this hotel ,having been to Chester Races. 8 adults stayed over, the hotel was nice inside the bar area was pleasant but were do they get their prices from for drinks???? very expensive and the food my god £12 for hot dog and chips!!!!.
Having returned to the hotel late 1.30am been for a meal in the centre we went for a night cap and the bar was full of youngish male and female's "drunk" and was a bit noisy but everyone must have had a good day.
We all went to out rooms but as guest no sleep door's slamming girls screaming, laughing shouting. er!!! the bed was ok the pillows were very flat and so I got about 3 hours sleep.
So not pleased but it was just a one off... Ive stayed at better hotels but I would go back maybe when the races are not on....

Dear ann g,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We pride ourselves in making sure that all of our guests have an enjoyable stay and it is very disappointing to hear that we did not live up to this expectation. We are sincerely sorry that your guest experience was less than satisfactory due to the level of noise from our other guests and prices encountered. We have shared your comments with our managers so that we can improve our handling of this type of situation in the future.

Once again, we apologize for your stay and we hope that you will give us another try on your next trip to the area.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a wedding group and found it an excellent choice. The room was superb, with tea & coffee making facilities though the shower was rather difficult to control. We also had the set dinner which was very nice indeed and plenty to eat. However, the breakfast buffet was rather disappointing (perhaps there might have been more choice earlier), but we ate breakfast at about 9 am and some of the choices were not replenished. Swimming pool was a lovely addition and also changing rooms very clean (even a small spin dryer to dry your swimming gear ... a useful addition!)

A convenient, reasonably priced and adequate hotel for a stopover or short stay. We stayed for two nights at the start of August while visiting a friend in the area. On the plus side the staff were generally friendly and helpful, the food was acceptable (though evening meals were not especially cheap) and the rooms a reasonable size. The swimming pool is also a plus in a basic hotel though we didn't have time to use it on this occasion. On the down side, the hotel could do with being refurbished as it was looking quite shabby, the dining room is an awkward layout (especially when busy) and the wi-fi was very pricey. It would be good if this hotel (as with many others) would find an alternative outdoor space for smokers. As things stand, they congregate by the main entrance so that all guests have to walk through a haze of smoke when entering and leaving.

Not the prettiest hotel in the world, but it was clean, the room was spacious and the bathroom a decent size. It was nice to find mugs rather than tiny little cups in the rooms. The advertising for the restaurant menu leads you to expect fresh, seasonal vegetables and other ingredients, but it was basic pub grub. Nothing inspiring, but edible. Our room, which overlooked the courtyard was quiet although if there had been an outside BBQ we would have been in trouble. Overall a pleasant stay

This hotel does not look much from the outside but, once inside it improves. Very friendly receptionist who congratulated us on our anniversary and upgraded our booking to an executive room. The room was fine (it was certainly a long walk from reception) and for this reason it would have been good to have a few more trolleys available for our bags. We did find one upstairs but it might have been good to tell us at the start that a long walk awaited us. Breakfast in the morning was very good. Altogether a good overnight stay in a hotel close to the A55 and on the outskirts of Chester. We used the gym and pool and enjoyed them both though the pool attendant was a bit strict!
