We stayed here for just one night. The girl on reception was very friendly and efficient. We had booked room only but were offered breakfast at a reduced price if we booked it there and then. We took up the offer and weren't disappointed. Our room was lovely and clean with a good supply of tea and coffee (no biscuits though).
The only negative was that wifi charges were ridiculous and the television kept going off due to a bad signal.

Stayed here for one night. Deceptively large hotel, which has a large free car park. Worth bearing in mind that some of the rooms are a very long walk from reception, mine certainly was!
I had an executive room which was spacious and well appointed, good supply of tea/coffee/drinking chocolate, biscuits and also a well stocked mini bar. There was also a digital safe and nice fluffy bath robe too! The bathroom was bright and clean, lots of hot water with really good pressure, lovely shower and good supply of complimentary toiletries and chunky good quality towels. On the negative side there was no 3G coverage on Vodafone in my room and very patchy coverage everywhere in the hotel, really disappointed to find that the hotel charges for Wi-Fi, at extortionate rates, although Wi-Fi is offered free in the Holiday Inn Express hotels, certainly not a good way to encourage repeat custom from business travellers! I chose to eat in the bar rather than the restaurant, food quality was good, well presented and arrived quickly. One point to note is that Richard, who was working the bar on the evening I stayed, added a service charge to my bill which I was not aware of at the time. I feel that this was unnecessary for one bar meal for a single guest.....note to self to check receipts at the time in future!! Breakfast was excellent, staff were welcoming and friendly and lots of choice. Overall a good experience, good location for the motorways and also central Chester. I would consider staying here again if I was in the area in the future..

Room Tip: Ask for a room closer to reception unless you are prepared for a long, slightly confusing walk!!

Stayed here for one night. The girl on reception was very pleasant and booked us in with the minimum of fuss.
The room was very large with a large comfortable double bed. The bathroom was on the small side and the shower was totally inadequate, unless you are about 5' tall!. I nearly had to sit down in it! One of my bugbears about hotels, particularly chains, is the practice of charging for Wi-fi. If McDonalds can offer it for free in all their restaurants then surely hotels can do likewise. Here the charge was £5 an hour or £14 and change for 24 hours. That really is outrageous. As it happened the coverage was so abysmal I could not log on anyway.
The bar was a bit nondescript and impersonal, more like an airport lounge. Breakfast next day was excellent. As good a selection as I've had anywhere. Would I stay again? Certainly.

We stayed in a family room for 2 nights in December. the room was a good size and had all you would expect from a HI. Worth bearing in mind that this is a very large hotel and quite a trek from the front entrance to some of the rooms. At the time we stayed it seemed very poopular with coach tours - which didnt bother our stay but might give you an idea of the atmosphere/type of hotel.

Didnt try the food or pool so cant comment but the staff we met were extremely helpful and even showed us to a TV/Mini Cinema room with films and games to keep the kids occupied - much more than we expected..........

All in all a good experience in a nice but slightly tired hotel. Would visit again if we needed lodgings in the area.

P.S. very conveniently situated for Cheshire Oaks shopping outlet.

Stayed here for a business trip and course. Good location just outside Chester and a £6 taxi ride into the city.
Hotel is as you would expect from a Holiday Inn. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel has a swimming pool and a gym. Staff here are also friendly.
Food was okay and service good.
All in all a fare priced hotel in Chester.
I would return and book this hotel again.
Only downside was room 305 smelt damp on arrival but radiator was turned up full.

Firstly, the staff here were all incredibly friendly and helpful. Everyone went out of their way to keep the guests happy and nothing was too much trouble.
Food was much better than I was expecting, with plenty of menu choices.
On a more negative note, the hotel rooms are tired and dated. Everywhere looks as if it could do with a lick of paint. I did not find the bed comfortable and although I had a large room, it was dark and drab.
I am sure there are plenty of hotels with a lot more character in Chester, but at least this hotel is conveniently located for the motorways etc.

My husband and I stayed here on a cheap weekend break to Chester. We'd booked a twin room and were given a double but this was rectified straight away. The rooms were basic but clean and adequate. The inclusive evening meal was a good standard and the service was quick and efficient. The breakfast which is served until 10.30 am was very good with a good selection of cereals and hot food available. We caught the bus outside the hotel into Chester which was £3.50 return, better than trying to park in the city centre! We took advantage of the hotel swimming pool which is of a reasonable size and wasn't crowded. Also pool tools are provided which is a plus. On the down side, the bar prices were astronomical and the hotel wanted to charge for Wi-Fi which incidentally is free on the bus which also has plugs for charging!!! Overall the staff were pleasant and helpful, the food was good the rooms were adequate but the hotel needs a bit of sprucing up especially outside.
