“Outstanding!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2013

We visited Bouchon for lunch when we were spending a few hours in Chester. We had seen it recommended on Tripadvisor and we were certainly not disappointed.
Our starters were the goat cheese salad - gorgeous beetroot purée!- and trout quenelle. Both had delicious flavours and interesting ingredients.
Our main courses were a steak - cooked to perfection- and rolled cod fillet with a puréed mussel sauce and parsley.
Desserts were also lovely, a rum baba and apple tart.
We thought at £17.95 a head this was superb value. Would recommend Bouchon to anyone looking for a delicious meal with friendly, unobtrusive service.

“Delicious food and great atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2013

I wouldn't really have thought of Chester as a foodie destination, but this restaurant was a real find. Classic French food done very well. Service was impeccable, the wine list comprehensive without being overpriced, and the surroundings lively and bustling but still intimate. Between two of us we had affair crack at the menu and everything was superb.

“Superb birthday get-together”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2013

We were a big party of 19 on Friday evening for a surprise birthday for my wife. Couldn't have asked for a better evening. Service was attentive, staff were welcoming and food was spot on. Well done!

Popped into here for a late lunch yesterday. Nicely presented, good food and generous service. Will try them for dinner next.

“Groupon voucher used expected better”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2013

Visited today with my husband used a Groupon voucher so had the chefs taster menu. Meet and greet fine. Table good in the ground floor window. The starter of French onion soup lovely and tasty well seasoned. The second starter of a trout quinelle with a lobster bisque too similar to the soup. Main of rack of lamb superbly presented but lamb too tough and not pink which we were told it would be. Apple tart rating with ice cream just an average dessert really. Liked the water glasses filled and refilled without asking but would have preferred sparkling this wasn't offered sadly. Red French wine very good although our first choice wasn't available. Husband ordered coffee but cold milk not hot milk was served. Hmmm.....experience ok but not really fine dining I would not have been happy paying over £100 which is what the meal would have cost had we not used the Groupon voucher which was infact less than half price. Service was also a little clumsy wine being spilled on table and a small amount of my dessert ending on the table.
