Went for a meal with mother in law and aunts on my last night before I left to fly back to middle east. We were seated quickly and told we had the VIP table which was a nice touch and we then ordered our drinks, I was happy that I could have prosecco by the glass. We ordered our meals and the starters came fairly quickly, I had the duck which was lovely. The main courses arrived and I was not happy with the vegetables, two different potatoes , cauliflower and a few small pieces of carrot. I questioned the potatoes as usually when ordering a meal you choose one type of potato with your meal ( chips and jacket on your plate, I dont think so ) I asked for some green veg and was told broccoli would take 10 minutes, after 15mins I asked where it was to be told the chef hadn't been informed of the order, by now I had almost finished my meal. I ordered sticky toffee pudding and asked or ice cream instead of custard to be told there was no vanilla flavour and I had to have rum md raisin, which was rather nice to be fair. After this the staff appeared to abandon us and Andrew never apologised for the delay wirh the veg. No one came near for more drinks ans I had to catch the attention of the waitress. The staff were being very attentive to the other tables we noted and by now we were not impressed. We got the bill and waited for someone to take it, no one came. My mother in law went over to Andrew to be told to take the it to reception, no one told us this. We paid at reception and neither they or anyone in reception asked if we had had good meal, so all in all I think customer service could be improved and if a customer has a reasonable request then the staff should be able to comply with it to keep the customer happy.
We left the restaurant saying we wouldn't go back although the setting is rather lovely, pity the service doesn't match !

We've often passed to try the Roamn experience meal. .The building is a beautifully restored corn mill situated alongside the canal. We could see the canal boat belonging to the company from our dining table and we hope to have an evening dinner trip on the canal after the fabulous meal we had inside. Probably one of the best Caeser salads I've ever eaten was followed by a generous kebab fished with a flourish when flambe-ed at table. in a generous amount of brandy. Food was served on sizzling platters so even the vegatables stayed beautiflly hot. The selection of sauces offered to go with the meat were all fresh and tasty. All I can say is that if this is how the Roamn's lived WOW! We had a fantastic meal in a lovely place with excellent service. The wine list was good and wine wasn't overpriced
