“Super hotel for visiting Chester area”
Reviewed 12 December 2011

This is an attractive hotel just outside Chester ( 5 miles ) with easy free parking and wonderful facilities. There is a beautiful, tranquil Asia- inspired garden and a well equiped spa and indoor pool. The rooms and bathrooms are well appointed and equiped.
The breakfast ( which was included in the reasonable room rate ) was very good, featuring quality, well cooked and presented produce.

Great hotel for a short break. We arrived in the dark and the car park was almost full, with lots of youths hanging around outside, presumably taking a smoking break.
A little bit disconcerting that the hotel reception was through a very busy bar, although I discovered later there was another entrance farther round. The room was adequate and well furnished. The bed was small but comfortable. I was kept awake by the constant sound of running water, which turned out to be a fountain in the courtyard, which was on all night! The bathroom was well furnished but could have done with a little TLC; the sink was loose and the shower could not keep a constant water temperature.
The following morning we went to the restaurant for breakfast and were met by the overwhelming smell of bleach and strong disinfectant, not what I wanted in order to enjoy breakfast.
Breakfast was inclusive but there was little choice and a cooked breakfast would have been £10.95 extra! Toast and coffee were brought to our table but the rest was self serve, which consisted only of cereal, yogurt, fruit and some very small croissants. The menu indicated a lot more choice.
The staff were very warm and friendly; the hotel is just outside the city in a very picturesque part of the countryside and on a good bus route into the city, which is good because parking is expensive when you can find it.
Overall a nice place to stay but I would have expected more for the money.

Stayed at the Grosvenor Hotel and spa on Sunday 6th November 2011 with a great B + B deal from BLUE KOKO. From the minute we booked until we left the staff, food and drink, pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room were all quality ! We ate at Nelson's bar for lunch and then had their famous carvery ( £9.95 each ) for dinner, which was really good value and well worth trying. On the Monday morning we took advantage of the full English breakfast (which was included in the deal) and can only say that it hit the spot keeping our stomachs full for the day, with excellent produce food. Our room was no.27 (a deluxe upgrade included in the deal) which overlooked the Japanese gardens - luxury !!! Would recommend.

Room Tip: upgrade to a deluxe room if you can. Would recommend room 27.

The staff at the Grosvenor were all very helpful and friendly. We had a really good overnight stay with a lovely view of the Christmas lights outside our window.
There aren't any coffee/tea trays in the room, but you can ask them to bring one up for you.

We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your recent stay with us and found the staff to be helpful and friendly. With regards to the coffee/tea trays in the rooms, we just wanted to let you know that we do supply one in every bedroom, however in a number of rooms they are placed away in their own cabinet and so not obviously visible. We apologise that you were not made aware of this. We would like to thank you for taking the time to write this review and hope to welcome you back in the future.

My partner booked a surprise weekend break at the hotel earlier this year. We only live 40 minutes away from the hotel but was great to have a night away. We were checked into our room, a lovely sized room with 4 piece bathroom (great to have the option of walk in shower!) and headed down to nelson's for a bite to eat for lunch, food great. But nothing could prepare me for the evening meal. Ciro's is by far the most romantic setting for a meal for two. By far the best restaurant myself and partner have been (and we go out a lot!) food fantastic and service attentive without being obtrusive! Would definitely recommend this hotel!

We went here for our minimoon after our wedding and - a lovely surprise - they'd upgraded us to a gorgeous deluxe room with spiral staircase for free!
The room was fantastic - comfortable and beautifully decorated. The room looked out onto the sensory garden which sounded lovely and the loft type rooves didn't reduce the space in the room. A TV in the living room would've been nice though!
Nelson's bar was excellent - a friendly relaxed atmosphere with lovely oak panelling and open fires. Very cosy and the food was excellent.
Ciro's brasserie breakfast was very good and the evening meal was exceptional.
The staff were really friendly and helpful - chatty and professional at the same time.
Kasia spa was gorgeous and so big! We can recommend the foot massage, full body massage, body wrap and couples bathing ceremony. The service was excellent and so relaxing in gorgeous surrounding. Loved the sensory garden! The spa area where the pool etc are was a bit hot though.
We visited Chester which was 5miles away and very easy to get to by car. We didn't really make the most of the surrounding as the hotel!
