Our room was number 42. This had a spiral staircase up to a roofspace which had sloping sides and lifting a large heavy suitcase up a spiral staircase is not too easy.
The room had only one drawer under the writing desk, big enough to keep the Gideons bible and not much else so nowhere to keep underware t-shirts, tops etc. There were 2 windows one upright at the spiral staircase and one small velux at the side of the bed both with not a very nice view over the roof. Although if you stuck your head out and looked to the left you could see the courtyard. The shower was jerky and intermittent and the shower curtain was next to useless. Altogether not a good room. Maybe we were given the attic room because we booked through Olotels. Good TV and comfortable bed though. The pool and the gym in the hotel were very good and the breakfasts were excellent.

Room Tip: Don't let them give you room 42.

The purpose for our visit was a wedding. My wife and I were made welcome after our journey from Surrey by train. Our room was exemplary. Large, spotlessly clean with comfortable facilities.
We found all the staff very helpful and courteous. The wedding breakfast was superb. The restaurant was comfortable and the food excellent. All the wedding guests seemed pleased with the effort the hotel staff put in, to make their stay a bit special. This was my first trip to the north of England and I cannot say how much I enjoyed myself. Well done Grosvenor Pulford Hotel.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked a very attractive oriental sensate garden with running water features. Very pea...

Arrived and checked in only to find the room smelling badly of cigarette smoke, the cleaner had just left the room as well! Moved very quickly though. Room small and dark, bathroom smelt of bad drains. The whole hotel looks tired and the carpets are grubby, paintwork chipped. Why don't these big hotels employ a handy man to touch up paintwork and clean carpets? Comfy bed but noisy awakening by people upstairs. Breakfast OK, no vegetarian option which annoys me, I paid £55 for b and b and can't get a cooked breakfast. When I asked for a croissant I was told it would take 15 minutes! This was in the middle of a busy Saturday breakfast morning. I am losing faith with big hotels, much better service from a friendly B and B. Definitlely not 4 star surroundings or service.

however the staff are too relaxed, and there is noise through the night be it wedding, restaurant, smokers, staff. Maybe the old building echoes and suffers from noise. Bar area is quite noisy with big sport tv

A delightful hotel to stay at if visiting Chester. The hotel is a delight in deisign surrounding a courtyard and conservatory. The courtyard has out door seating and surrounded by flowers and pool with fountain. Restaurant is smart with delightful atmosphere . Food menu is very good and service all round pleasant and very efficient. Bedroom was roomy ,with toilet and bathroom and all was clean and neat..
Bus stops close to hotel running every 10 mins from Wrexham to Chester so you donot have the "hassle" of finding parking. Hote lparking very good and free. Bus takes about !5 mins to Chester
The garden is magnificent in flower and rose lay out and plenty of seats and tables with sun shades. There is a superbb lily pool with diferent colour lilies. Worth a visit

Have been before, but first time in an Executive Double in the newer Section..Price included breakfast which was quite hearty for what was delivered to the room..spot on 9:00am..Rooms have everything you need, spacious etc..Hotel reception very helpful and formal but in a normal way..sorted out taxis to chester races over phone,no issues..Price inc breakfast for 2 was £165 which considering i've paid 25 in similar hotel for breakfast equates to about £110 for the room..good value..we did not visit the spa, but that looks great and next year we are tempted to stay the extra night so we can use these facilities..nice quite location on cheshire/welsh border and not to far from Chester..easy access off A55..lovely gardens to walk around..will be back..

Room Tip: all rooms are great..but prefered the executive room in the new block..

We chose this hotel as a base to visit Chester, noting it was out of the city; had ample parking, and was near to a Park and Ride which is the best way to get into the city. We were not disappointed. The location was ideal; hotel grounds and decor of public rooms beautiful. We chose the standard room which was large and comfortable, although a little dark as the only window overlooked other parts of the hotel buildings. I suspect the higher spec rooms enjoy better views and some appear to be in a more modern extension over the function room. We used the spa area which was very pleasant. We ate in the bar area which has a reasonable menu (note to place order at the bar). Other option is the hotel restaurant area. Breakfast is in this same area, buffet style with a full cooked option. There were weddings on both nights we were there but we were not disturbed by noise, althoiugh wedding guests were milling about.

Room Tip: TRy for a higher specification room if able.
