“Wonderful wedding venue”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

We recently had our wedding at The Grosvenor Pulford Hotel. It was absolutely amazing, staff were excellent very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The organisation from the moment we arrived till we left was brilliant!! Our family and friends were also very complementary about the venue, quality of food and excellent staff, and the organisation by Alistair and his team.
We highly recommend this hotel and we will definately be returning with our children to celebrate our anniversary next year!

Thank you so much!!

Steven and Louise Ellis

We stayed at The Grosvenor Pulford Hotel and Spa recently for 2 nights and enjoyed the experience. We stayed in a Superior Room which was absolutely gorgeous! Very spacious everywhere - lovely comfortable king bed with fab bed linen, plenty of plug sockets in dressing area and now to the Bathroom - WOW! Beautiful large bath, double basins and a walk in 'wet room' shower and a TV! This was a first for us and we have stayed in some very nice hotels! Very nice toiletries included as well as lovely soft towels!

We ate in the Ciros restaurant both nights - staff very friendly and efficient. First night we enjoyed a la carte and second night (Sunday) it was a carvery. Good choices on the a la carte menu and we enjoyed our meal. The Carvery is what it is - not our ideal meal out but we still enjoyed it!

The Leisure area looked really good however we did not use it. The spa area was also lovely but they were fully booked so I couldn't get an appointment.

The hotel staff were very friendly and well organised. We would definitely return to this hotel if revisiting this area. It is great for visiting Chester and Cheshire Oaks (retail outlet) and Liverpool.

We recently spent 2 nights at this hotel. It is much larger than I expected but works surprisingly well. Our room was tucked away in the eaves but felt very spacious and private, only one other room at the top of the stairs to get to it. The bed was comfortable, well equipped and the bathroom was clean. We had drinks in the bar which was lovely with pretty Christmas decorations and open fires. We ate in the restaurant, the décor here is "interesting", some might say over the top! However the food was fine. One of the waiters was a little keen in terms of pouring wine etc, but overall the service was good. Breakfast was good, but on one day was quite busy and felt a touch disorganised and understaffed. we did use the pool and this was very pleasant. Check out was very good, and efficient and helpful with some directions and suggestions. We would happily stay here again.

We also attended the New Years Eve overnight hotel package. We attended the same function last year and the restaurant manager came round the tables first to talk to us and make us all feel special. Then he explained to each table the buffet system and we went table by table with a small queue.
This year we were all sat down. No interaction with the restaurant manager and suddenly people stood up and went to the buffet followed by a stampede and a long queue. Nothing was explained at all. ideally it would have been nice to have a starter and this area separate. Then we could have returned for the main course. No lights put on to see what was happening. In addition an unknown male was sat by the curry area telling customers that the hardly touched curry was mild in fact when it was spicy.III Wierd
The interaction would have been nice as we were put on a table right out of the way.
Apart from that it was a great night with Dixie a little less exuberant from last year.
Excellent sleep lovely breakfast and a relaxing morning in the pool and Jacuzzi which was working very well!

Room Tip: Room 37 was right at the back was quiet

Stayed at the Grosvenor Pulford for a romantic weekend away for my husbands birthday. On check in we were told that we had been upgraded to an exectutive room for the weekend at no extra charge which was lovely as it had the sleeping area on another floor. The room itself was dectorated tastefully to a very high standard and the bathroom was lovely also. We had a view accross fields from one side of our room and accross the hotel courtyard the other
We used the swimming pool facilities and enjoyed sitting in the whirl pool and steam room. The swimming complex had a roman theme with pillars and wall decor which made a nice change from other hotels.
We ate in the hotel resturant Ciro's on the Saturday night and had a wonderful meal. It wasn't cheap, but the quality of the food and wine was worth every penny.
The hotels proximity to Chester was great. Near, but with a countryside feel. We drove about 5 minutes up the road to a park & ride and took the bus into the city center which was much cheaper than parking.
We love Chester as a city and on our next trip up there we will stay at the Grosvenor Pulford again.

Beautiful hotel, facilities, excellent food and (general) service. However, organisation of celebratory function left much to be desired. 150+ guests - who had each paid £149 for the overnight package - expected to be summoned for buffet dinner service by table number. Problem - no table numbers and no disciplined control of queue - result, a lengthy wait for most people!!

Afterwards, the decibel rating of the music meant many departures immediately after midnight!

Sad that these factors detracted from what should have been a very pleasant celebration.

Room Tip: Floors 1 and 2 are the best bet - 4 is immediately under the roof!!

We have just had the three day christmas package starting on christmas eve and extending our stay an extra day after boxing day. We were a large family party of 11 ranging from 10 years to 87 years. The rooms we were allocateded were to very high standard with very comfortable beds, lovely bathrooms and showers. I believe the rooms had only just been completed and they had been finished to a high standard. Each room got a thorntons chocolate treat which was a nice touch. My daughter Hannah loved her gingerbread house and thorntons snowman.
As a family were could not fault the hotel, the staff could not do enough for you and there was a very friendly feel which for our first christmas away as a family made it very special. The entertaiment package was well organised and we had fun both evenings enjoying lovely food and great DJ and singer.. The hotel is a beautiful building and the christmas decorations , trees, log burning fire made it very homely and christmasy.
Some of our party used the spa facilities and pool which was very enjoyable and relaxing.
The hotel is a lovely place to stay for a weekend and if anyone is considering a christmas break we could not have asked for a better package and would definetly recommend this hotel.
I would like to thank all the hard working staff and chefs for lovely food and thankyou again for a christmas to remember.
We will be back Regards from the Gibbon/Kearsey/Redwood party
