Just had a fab 2 nights at this hotel, staff very helpful and friendly, the hotel is warm and cosy, our room was spotless and decorated beautifully, we had an executive room ! Could not ffault the breakfast nor the food in Ciro's Restaurant which was excellent as weelas the service, best seabass I have ever had, will definately be returning ! It was like a 5* restaurant, unlike my experience two nights previous in the new Hilton Hotel, Liverpool which was awful! The pool and spa were most enjoyable, very relaxing, which is why we went, would recommend you give it a try !

We came here for a leisurely weekend break, just to chill and have a mooch around Chester. The hotel is very easy to get to, about 5 miles from Chester, with a large car park adjacent.

The room was quite small but well equipped, and nicely furnished. Good powerful shower and nice range of toiletries. Downsides of the room were the cobwebs in one corner, dusty fan cover and stains on the duvet and walls. But minor niggles all the same.

The spa area is excellent. We only did the swim and jacuzzi but it was very nicely designed and laid out, the pool and jacuzzi were beautifully warm. There is also a steam room and spa and gym. Didn't bother with any spa treatments, but the whole area was very stylish.

There are two eating places. The brasserie only does a carvery on a sunday so we visited Nelson's bar which has a gastropub feel. The food was excellent, about £12-£15 for a main but good portions and delicious.

Helpful staff all round, friendly and efficient. We left feeling very relaxed and pleased with our choice.

Spent Christmas 2009 at the Grosvenor and what a joy it was. Beautifully decorated throughout, warm and cosy and the most friendly and helpful staff. We found minatures off Bells and Baileys, plus a small box of Thorntons Chocolates, in our room, and after 'complaining' that the Thorntons might not last long, were told that more could be made available!.

Food was delicicious and plenty of it, and the dining room table decorations and chairs complimented everything. I was all 'quality'.

Good evenig entertainment and lovely swimming pool with sauna and steam room.

Couldn't ask for more. Just go there!

That was my third visit to this hotel, twice previoulsy with my daughter. The relaxed quiet freindly atmosphere is heaven. With a pub, pub food or a lovely formal greek resaurant but isnt too formal all on site and the use of the spa you dont need to lgo anywhere else. The food is fabulous and breakfast has a great choice.

i have recommended this hotel to my frein, she has been and loved it too..

A beautiful old building just outside Chester that's been sympathetically extended. The public areas are lovely. Reception is olde worlde, and the bar is comfortable, tasteful and stylish. The restaurant is attractive. The spa reception is beautiful. You need to note that as a hotel guest you do not get access to the spa without paying extra. You do get access to a good size pool, small sauna, small steam room and jacuzzi. The pool is lovely. Changing rooms are small and ok, but not glamourous. I can't comment on the spa as didn't have access, but it seems promising.
Reception staff were lovely.
We stayed in room 35 and that is classed as an executive room. It was a really lovely room - built into the atic, with two huge velux windows. You could just see the hills in the background if you peeped out the windows. The room overlooked a very very attractive courtyard in the middle of the hotel. The room was really quite big and very attractively decorated. There was a flat screen TV, but reception wasn't brilliant for all channels. There was a complimentary tea tray but no mineral water. The glasses in the bathroom were plastic. There were some complimentary toiletries, but in our room no soap (an omission I believe) and no conditioner (generally). The towels were ok, but no robes despite being a more expensive room.
The communal areas of the hotel were very attractive.
We ate in the Ciro brasserie in the evening, and the food was nice, though not amazing. The breakfast was ok (not fresh juice, no fresh bread).
The one thing we didn't like was that both in the evening during dinner and in the morning during breakfast hotel staff laid tables, changed crockery etc and it was really quite noisy, and at times a little intrusive. During dinner, despite the fact there was an issue in the kitchen and our starter took over 30 minutes to arrive, whilst we were having desert and coffee, the music was switched off and candles on surrounding tables were blown out whilst we were still sitting there.
I can't say whether management would have dealt with this appropriately because we were staying at the hotel as a treat after a very very stressful week and I didn't want to risk getting stressed by an inappropriate response. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and we would return, though perhaps get a taxi into town for a meal.

We held our Wedding Reception in October 2009 at the Grosvenor Pulford. We took a long time to select a venue that ticked all of the boxes such as close to the Church, ground floor facilities for our elderly & wheel chair bound guests, excellent service, good quality food & value for money. The Grosvenor Pulford could not have given us a more perfect Wedding Day. From the moment we set foot inside the hotel for one of their regular open evenings, we knew it was the place for us. Every single staff member is polite & attentive and could not do enough for us. There wasn't one single hitch during the day or in the 18 months of plannign with the venue beforehand.
The events management team are very professional & have bags of experience in helping you to design your reception, they gave us some great recommendations for Flowers, Photography, Hair & Makeup - and we took all of these up.
There is a choice of 3 Bridal Suites and we were made to feel so special the whole time we were at the hotel. We went the night before and held a rehearsal dinner with the family members that had travelled up, and stayed until after lunch the day after - at all times, we were looked after so well. Despite the fact that the Grosvenor Pulford hosts literally 100's of events (not just Weddings) we felt like we were the most important people there and that's priceless on your Wedding Day.
The food was superb and drew many complimentary comments from our guests.

I can't recommend this venue enough for any type of celebration, evening event or even just a nice meal. They are currently creating a Japanese Water Garden outside the Spa area - and i think for people lucky enough to have booked Weddings fro mend of Spring on when it is scheduled to open, that will be so amazing on the photographs.

To sum up, it's a Top Class venue and i'm currently in the process of rebooking to hold a 1st anniversary party there in October later this year.

This is a gem! We travelled with our 4 year old son, our Rottie, my parents and their dog. The place is absolutely beautiful, has the overall feel and look of a 5 star hotel mixed with the relaxed and cosy feel of home - especially being able to have your dogs (well behaved of course!) with you in the flagged area of the bar as well as in your bedrooms. The spa facilities are gorgeous and the restaurant and bar served excellent fresh food. The staff's level of professionalism, friendliness and service was unprecedented. Never have we felt so welcome. Just a minute's walk out right from the hotel, is a golf course with a public footpath around it, ideal for dog walks. There is also a Vet on the corner!
Overall it was a true winter wonderland, we relaxed totally. Thank you all, we will be back.
