An unforgettable experience. John Sykes and his family have created something wonderful, weird and completely original in this hotel and restaurant. If you have a sense of humour, a soft spot for a drink, and an open mind, then this is a place you must visit. If you don't, then spend your money at a luxury airport hotel. I'm not sure it's a place we could go back to though, only because it would be difficult to replicate the evening we spent here, and we might be disappointed. Sound intriguing? It is. Go on, live a little and visit the Sykes, for an alternative view of hoteliery, and life...

Frogg manor probably won't appeal to everyone, but if you like something different you've got to give it a go. You will either love or hate the owner/chef/concierge/ waiter/barman/scholar that attends to all your needs. We thought he was great. The bedrooms are fantastic, full of acharacter and very comfy. The food is fresh, local and very tasty. two thumbs up!!

Over the past 35 years I have visited many of the most famous restaurants up and down the country. I found the food here to be outstanding. Easily the best meal I have had in the Chester area with the exception of the Simon Radley at the Chester Grosvenor. Sure the dining room may not be everybody's idea of luxurious and a lot of money could be spent on updating the premises but this is presumably how they like it. The lounge to which you return for coffee is very comfortable and full of interesting pieces and pictures. Just going for a meal we didn't see the bedrooms but if you want a great meal don't hesitate. I also used the Hi-Life card and there was no adverse comment as mentioned by one or two people - I think that would just be the owners idiosyncratic sense of humour in any event without any harm meant. We found he and his partner to be very pleasant after the meal when he had a bit of time available.

My words cannot describe adequately just how amzing this place is. We had our wedding here on a beautiful March day....the weather was very kind to us and so at the last minute John agreed for us to get married in the garden area.....it made our day.
The food was absolutley incredible and John and his team looked after us and our guests in his usual way....ensured it was a perfect meal.
I believe they do perhaps a wedding a month, we were so lucky to get the venue only booking about 2 months in advance, the right amount of room for our party of 42, and something for everyone.
It was a fun evening with John, Charlie and the staff joining in......Up until 5am, danced until we could dance no more.
ALL our guests loved the quirkiness and the unusual rooms. We had the Wellington suite and its secret door ensured everyone had to have a look...we used all the rooms and there was not one complaint just praise.
Thanks so much John and team for the best wedding, it was laid back yet organised, fun yet class and we would not have changed a thing.
Rachel and Peter Ford.

After reading the reviews prior to visting Frogg Manor for dinner I was both intrigued and excited. Despite all of the bad reviews in a number of areas the positive throughout was how good the food was. The food was average with the exception of the starter which was pretty impressive. The interior of this place is quirky to say the least and I did feel comfortable however I can only say that certain areas are rather in need of an update and despite being told how fab the bedrooms are I'd not have felt comfortable knowing that I was going to sleep in this place. When you drive into the grounds the hotel looks tired and in need of some good old TLC. Apart from the starter and some interesting Froggs the best thing about this place is the resident pooch, think her name was Bubbles, who was adorable. Not a place I'd return too however you have to try it as it might just be for you!

Just had the pleasure of spending the night at Frogg Manor. Stayed in The Bronte Room, so warm and inviting. Bedding so luxurious we felt like the lord and lady of the manor. Extremely clean and well looked after. Food was out of this world and it is such a difference to have people that talk to you(Hi Jo) after all we are all humans!! At a time when people are feeling apprehensive about spending it is nice to know that places with real warmth and character still exist. Cannot wait to return. Much love to you all John, Charlie, Bubbles Jo Jo and Lisa. See you soon

I dined in Frogg manor along with my partner for our anniversary, using a hi life diners card. On arrival we were greeted with....'oh the low lives' as another reviewer also experienced, in my opinion we still paid over £100 for a meal for two so if the manager looks down on ‘hi life’ users then why accept the card in the first place? The decor is tacky and old. the whole place was dirty and looked as if the carpets and furniture hadn’t been cleaned for years. there was also lots of debris outside of the conservatory...old children’s toys, broken chairs etc also an unused rusty ripped trampoline in full view. The one and only plus of this experience was the food....it was surprisingly lovely and you could not fault it. I would recommend this place as a restaurant if you go with a low expectations of the service you will receive.
