We visited this tearoom following a poor experience at another cafe and wanted some afternoon tea. It's a cute little tearoom hidden away in Chester, with quirky decor and yummy cakes. It was a little expensive but worth it for the atmosphere and standard of food. The service was fine, although the waitress did forget our pot of tea. I would recommend this place, although punt for a better table than outs which was right next to the toilet!!

Visited today with my daughter and friend and we were so looking forward to it but unfortunately not quite as good as we expected but we did receive a warm and friendly welcome.
The front of the Tearoom look good but we were seated at the back and it look unfinished and rather plain.
We opted for the soup and sandwich, potato and leek soup which was a little watery and a bit bland. The Cheshire cheese and chutney sandwich was very nice, lots of cheese and lovely soft wholemeal bread.
We didn't stay for tea and cake so unable to comment but might go back and try the afternoon tea.

My Mum, friend, and I picked the Mad Hatters for lunch on our girly day out in Chester. I have to admit that we were quite disappointed.
I loved the front part of the Tearoom and found it really fun and quirky, but we were seated in the back room and it just looked tired and sort of unfinished.
We all ordered the soup and some sandwiches, but were very disappointed with the soup. It was very thin and didn't seem home made at all. The sandwiches were very nice though and the Cheshire cheese and chutney was really good together.
We didn't stay for tea or cake as we kind of felt a bit deflated from the experience. I have a feeling that the bakery part and afternoon tea's are the highlight of the Mad Hatters and we maybe should have tried those.
I would probably visit again to just try the cakes and give the tearooms a second chance.

We stopped off here for lunch as part of a girly shopping trip. It's a quirky cafe and tearoom, which is more appealing from the outside than inside, but does nice food and good cakes. We'd go again.
