“Beautiful, amazing cottage in the centre of Chester”
Reviewed 27 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We have just stayed at Douglas Cottage for 3 nights. We were met by Barabara & Dave, the cottage exceeds the photo's on the holiday lettings website.

It is very beautiful, and pristine. You feel like your the only people to have stayed there! We were left a welcome basket which was extremly handy. The cottage has everything you could possibly need, with lovely touches that you would get in a hotel!

Out 14 year old daughter and her friend were very happy with the top floor bedroom and bathroom!! As it is so close to town they could go off and shop by themselves. There is also a waitrose just around the corner.

The master bedroom is very calming, So impressed with it that Barabara is sending me a sample of the paint (bless her!)

Very comfortable stay, they have thought of everything.

Can recommend Hickorys restaurant by the river, not far from the cottage either!

Will defintely be returning (without the teenagers)! Wouldn't hestiate to recomend this award winning cottage.

Very welcoming owners to greet us when we got there, left us a breakfast hamper for us to enjoy and the holiday accommodation itself was excellent. We have recommended to our friends and family and hope to come back to stay in the cottage very soon.

“Fantastic Cottage!”
Reviewed 8 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We stayed at the cottage for 2 nights in May. The cottage is in a fantastic location in Chester city centre. It had everything we needed and more. The cottage was extremely welcoming and comfortable and we were surprised and delighted that we were provided with a hamper of basic food which meant we did not need to go shopping. This was a lovely touch!
I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it.

“Exceptional Accommodation near the centre of Chester”
Reviewed 17 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Having grown up in Chester, I recognised the exterior of this charming character property and was impressed by the comments of other reviewers. My wife, teenage daughter and I stayed there for a weekend to celebrate a landmark birthday. It certainly did not disappoint and provided us with a memorable weekend.
The property is located close to the city centre and Grosvenor Park. It is a charming example of Victoian Gothic design and has some history attached to it. It has been beautifully restored and decorated and is spotlessly clean. We were able to park outside with the resident parking voucher provided which made unloading and loading luggage very easy. All you could possibly think of was provided including a thoughtfully stocked welcome basket. We were welcomed by the owners who showed us round this lovely cottage.
The property is very handy for Chester city centre shopping, the park and river, and Chester's excellent bars and restaurants. It was a cost effective, and better option, than an hotel for our stay. We had a wonderful time and give this property a wholehearted recommendation.

“douglas cottage chester - LOOK NO FURTHER!!!”

Our family had the opportunity to stay in the beaurtifully appointed Douglas Cottage in Chester over the Chiristmas period in December 2013. This was our first visit from Australia in almost 20 years and fell in love with the cottage from the second we walked through the front door. This cottage has everything that anyone could possibly desire and the owners Barbara and Andy were truly lovely and helpful, rigjht down to a gorgeous welcome basket with everything one could want to help kickstart there stay. We will remember Douglas Cottage for years to come and would without hesitation highly recommend the cottage for the perfect place to stay in Chester. LOOK NO FURTHER!!! from Sylv, Fred, Mark, Barbie & Ryan from Brisbane, Qld, Australia

“Beautifully appointed cottage in excellent location.”
Reviewed 16 December 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Very friendly and congenial hosts, who seem committed to ensuring the stay was comfortable and effortless. The quaint little cottage was spotlessly clean and comfortable. I enjoyed my stay immensely - it felt like home and I was reluctant to leave. The location is quiet yet convenient to the centre of Chester and all it has to offer.
