I visited the red door chester on 17.07.14 as my friend had a membership loyalty card which entitled her to 2-4-1 cocktails. We headed to the bar at 9.15pm and the doors were closed (even though the opening times stipulated they were open from 9pm), we weren't too bothered at this so went for a quick drink somewhere else - we tried again at 10.05pm and they had just opened the doors. When we went to the bar we were asked by a very rude and abrupt bar man if we wanted any drinks, we explained that we were going to try out the 2-4-1 cocktails to which his response was "that offer only exists before 10pm". I don't understand how you can advertise an offer when the bar isn't even in operation!!! We weren't too bothered by not being able to have the bargain cocktails but I was shocked how rude the bar man was, and how in un proffesional he acted. We ended up walking out!!
Very disappointed, shall not return!!

We were recommended to go here for drinks on a weekend break to Chester. We loved it. Great atmosphere, knowledgable staff and the owner was meticulous about checking the standard of cocktails being produced. Bit pricey, but we went back again on Saturday night regardless. Just wish this was where we live!

Visited this establishment for first time as small group of friends
We were let in by bouncers wearing visible fancy dress accessories..they said nothing just asked for ID then let us all in
Within 15mins of being in there, one of bouncers came over and told us to remove our fancy dress accessories or get out
He was rude and abrupt considering he let us in in first place!
He personally made me feel a bit intimidated as he was a bit too close to comfort watching us to make sure we removed the items and also to make sure we didn't put them back on
I understand each bar has its own policies but they let us in wearing the stuff!
We left after 30mins there

Lot of customers looked down their nose at us and felt uncomfortable in there. I got the impression, customers in there are upper class and spend a lot of money

Highly overpriced drinks

Won't be visiting again!

We called in after dinner in the Blackhouse grill (top restaurant) for a couple of cocktails, which were lovely. We had 2 for 1 vouchers from the Blackhouse so it wasn't too costly but wouldn't like to pay full price. Couldn't fault the barman though cos he was very helpful.

After eating at a restaurant of the same chain down the road, we headed to Red Door after staff recommended it for a few drinks. lots of reviews say the bouncers are terrible...they are not, they are perfectly friendly as long as you are not drunk and causing havoc. However, the actual bar is disgraceful. Absolutely packed (must have been above capacity as it was physically impossible to move in there or even see the bar!) We were pushed and shoved by people who were obviously out to have a good time but in the smallest area possible. One of the barman took our order after we waited about 10 minutes and he couldn't hear us as it was too busy. He chose to ignore us after we repeated ourselves about 5 times and instead he walked off and served someone else. We tried to stay and order again (as we had been given 2 for 1 drinks vouchers) but it was just too packed, loud and full of rude people both customers and employees so we left without even having a drink. Do not bother going.
