We were in Chester for a family get together and called into The Cross Keys on the way past. Although there wasn't too many in we sort of took over the place. Took over tables right beside a lovely open fire and we had some really good craic.

All in good form and no nonsense, other folks in the bar chatted away with us and we had an excellent hour or two.

We will definitely call into the Keys in the future and will have food on our next visit.

Lovely wood pannelled pub with very welcoming staff. My husband says that the 'Slumbering Monk' ale is one of the best he has ever tasted. My Pinot wine was more than acceptable. We both ate the home made Slumbering Monk Pie with chips/mash and fresh veg and loved every mouthful. We were only in Chester for 2 nights but returned for our second night brecause we loved the atsmosphere, staff, food and drink so much.
